IN THE PAST YEAR, PLANT FUTURES HAS EXPERIENCED DRAMATIC GROWTH, EXPANDING RAPIDLY FROM A SINGLE UC BERKELEY COURSE TO A GLOBAL PROGRAM AND ECOSYSTEM OF WORLD-RENOWNED PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS, FACULTY, AND STUDENT CHAPTERS. OUR ANNUAL SYMPOSIA HOSTED BY UC BERKELEY ATTRACTED WORLD-CLASS SPEAKERS AND REACHED OVER 1,000 ATTENDEES FROM ACROSS THE WORLD. STUDENT REPRESENTATION INCLUDED 53 SCHOOLS FROM DIVERSE ETHNIC, RACIAL, GEOGRAPHIC, AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUNDS. OUR CHALLENGE LAB COURSE INCLUDED 8 PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS (MIYOKOS CREAMERY, CALIFIA FARMS, PLANT BASED FOODS ASSOCIATION, NEW CROP CAPITAL, TOFURKY, DIET ID, BLUE HORIZON) AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF THE PLANT-BASED FOOD & AGRICULTURE SECTORS WHO WORKED WITH 35 UC BERKELEY STUDENTS REPRESENTING 8 FIELDS OF STUDY (INCLUDING PUBLIC HEALTH, BUSINESS, DATA SCIENCE, BOTANY, AMONG OTHERS) IN SUPPORT OF INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION. 18 STUDENT-LED PLANT FUTURES CHAPTERS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED AT DIVERSE CAMPUSES ACROSS THE US AND INTERNATIONALLY INCLUDING UC BERKELEY, HARVARD UNIVERSITY, UC LOS ANGELES, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF SO PAULO. OUR WORK HAS BEEN COVERED IN WIDELY READ PUBLICATIONS INCLUDING: FOODNAVIGATOR, ONEGREENPLANET, AND EURSAFE NEWSLETTER.
