ISLAMORADA'S CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION EDUCATION (ICARE) IS DEDICATED TO INCORPORATING EFFORTS OF LOCAL BUSINESSS, RESIDENTS AND VISITORS IN RESTORING AND MAINTAINING CORAL REEF COMMUNITIES IN ISLAMORADA, FLORIDA. OUR MISSION IS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN REEF CONSERVATION THROUGH CITIZEN SCIENCE AND EDUCATION, CORAL TRANSPLANTATION AND CONTINUED MONITORING OF CORALS, REEF FISHES, AND INVERTEBRATES. OUR GOALS FOR THE REEF ARE TO COLLECT DATA ON THE FACTORS IMPACTING CORAL TRANSPLANT SURVIVAL, INCREASE CORAL COVER FROM 3-5% TO 10% OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS, AND HELP RESTORE ECOLOGICAL PROCESSES TO THESE REEF COMMUNITIES, WHILE INCREASING EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE RECREATIONAL DIVING COMMUNITY.

THE ORGANIZATION EDUCATED AND TRAINED OVER 1,000 DIVERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS AS TO THE CONDITION OF THE REEF AND HOW THEY CAN BE PART OF THE RESTORATION EFFORTS
