Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO LOSE YOUR HEALTH, YOUR SPOUSE, YOUR FRIENDS AND YOUR HOME. NO ONE WANTS TO GROW OLD ALONE. YET, MOST PEOPLE DO. ISOLATION, LONELINESS AND DEPRESSION AFFLICT MOST SENIORS IN LONG- TERM CARE. JEWISH SENIORS IN ASSISTED LIVING AND NURSING HOMES OFTEN FEEL ABANDONED BY THE JEWISH COMMUNITY. THEY NO LONGER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN JEWISH HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS. AS FORMER MEMBERS OF A VIBRANT COMMUNITY, THEY FEEL ISOLATED FROM COMMUNAL LIFE.THE JEWISH PAVILION IS A LIFE-LINE FOR ELDERLY JEWS IN LONG TERM CARE. THE JEWISH PAVILION STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS GO WHEREVER SOMEONE IN OUR COMMUNITY IS IN NEED. WE ARE THERE TO LOOK AFTER LOVED ONES, BRIGHTEN SOMEONE'S DAY WITH A GIFT OR LIFT SOMEONE'S SPIRITS WITH A VISIT OR HOLIDAY CELEBRATION. IT'S IN ALL 50 OF THE LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES WHERE WE COME TOGETHER TO SHARE OUR CULTURE WITH RESIDENTS OF ALL FAITHS. IT'S NOT A PLACE ON THE MAP. IT'S A PLACE IN THE HEART. THE ORLANDO SENIOR HELP DESK BEGAN IN JUNE 2012. IT IS A FREE REFERRAL SERVICE OPEN TO ALL FAITHS FOR ELDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE HELP DESK IS HEADED BY AN EXPERIENCED SOCIAL WORKER. THERE IS ALSO A WEBSITE, WWW.ORLANDOSENIORHELPDESK.ORG. THE HELP DESK PROVIDES RESOURCES FOR LIVING ARRANGEMENTS, HOME HEALTH, HOSPICE, PHYSICIANS, PHARMACY, ELDER LAW, MEDICAID AND MEDICARE PLANNING, AND PROFESSIONAL GUARDIANS.
