EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTING THE GRAND CANYON, SETTING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS FOR THE RIVER GUIDING PROFESSION, CELEBRATING THE UNIQUE SPIRIT OF RIVER COMMUNITY PROVIDING BEST POSSIBLE RIVER EXPERIENCE.

BOATMANS QUARTERLY REVIEW BQR - THE BQR IS GCRGS KEYNOTE PUBLICATION A DISTINCT SERVICE TO THE RIVER RUNNING COMMUNITY. THIS 48-PAGE FULL-COLOR JOURNAL IS PUBLISHED QUARTERLY, WRITTEN PRODUCED BY THE ORGANIZATIONS MEMBERS AS WELL AS NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, MEMBERS OF THE GRAND CANYON SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY, AND OTHERS. THE BQR INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC, HISTORICAL AND TRAINING ARTICLES FOR THE ORGANIZATIONS GENERAL AND GUIDE MEMBERS AS WELL AS ARTICLES ON RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES, INDIGENOUS PERSPECTIVES NEW THREATS TO GRAND CANYON. THIS ALLOWS THE ORGANIZATION TO EDUCATE ABOUT IMPORTANT ISSUES GENERATE ADVOCACY FOR WISE-USE STEWARDSHIP OF GRAND CANYON THE COLORADO RIVER. THE BQR WAS PUBLISHED FOUR TIMES IN FY 2022, WITH A CIRCULATION OF APPROXIMATELY 1,700.


GUIDES TRAINING SEMINAR GTS - IN SPRING 2022, GCRG OFFERED A TWO-DAY VIRTUAL GUIDES TRAINING SEMINAR V-GTS, IN LIEU OF ITS LONGTIME ANNUAL IN-PERSON LAND SESSION DUE TO THE CONTINUING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. ITS FEATURED EVENT WAS A KEYNOTE ADDRESS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OF GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK. OUR V-GTS THEME, MOVING DOWNSTREAM TOGETHER FOCUSED ON ELEVATING THE VOICES OF OUR VALUED TRIBAL PARTNERS, SHARING THE LATEST INFORMATION FROM GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, HEARING DIRECTLY FROM CLIMATE CHANGE EXPERTS AND OTHER SCIENTISTS,AND GAINING TOOLS FOR A SAFER, MORE RESPECTFUL WORKPLACE. RECORDINGS OF THE V-GTS PRESENTATIONS WERE SUBSEQUENTLY MADE AVAILABLE ON THE GTS LIBRARY PAGE OF THE GCRG WEBSITE. THE V-GTS WAS HELD WITHOUT CHARGE TO OUR MEMBERS AND THE INTERESTED PUBLIC, AND WAS A SUCCESS WITH 125 REGISTRATIONS. THIS VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY WAS FOLLOWED BY A TWO-WEEK LONG, RIVER-BASED TRAINING SESSION ON THE COLORADO RIVER THROUGH GRAND CANYON FOR 18 GUIDE PARTICIPANTS, ALONG WITH CONTINUED AT SCHEDULE O


GLEN CANYON DAM ADAPTIVE MGMNT PROGRAMS/LONGTERM EXPERIMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN LTEMP EIS - THE ORGANIZATION REPRESENTS RECREATIONAL RIVER RUNNING INTERESTS ON THE FEDERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FACA CHARGED WITH ADVISING THE US SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR ON HOW TO BEST MANAGE GLEN CANYON DAM TO COMPLY WITH THE MANDATES OF THE GRAND CANYON PROTECTION ACT. IN FY 2022, GCRG REPRESENTATIVES PARTICIPATED IN MEETINGS, WEBINARS, WORKSHOPS CONFERENCE CALLS OF THE TECHNICAL WORK GROUP TWG, THE ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT WORK GROUP AMWG, THE FLOW AD HOC GROUP, AND STEERING COMMITTEE AD HOC GROUP OF THE GLEN CANYON DAM ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GCDAMP. THROUGHOUT FY 2022, GCRG REPRESENTATIVES COMMUNICATED REGULARLY WITH PROGRAM STAKEHOLDERS, FEDERAL AGENCIES AND SCIENTISTS FROM THE GRAND CANYON MONITORING RESEARCH CENTER GCMRC. ADDITIONALLY, GCRG REPRESENTATIVES MET REGULARLY WITH OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL, RECREATIONAL AND TRIBAL STAKEHOLDERS TO STRATEGIZE IN ADVANCE OF AMWG/TWG MEETINGS AND DISCERN ISSUES OF COMMON CONCERN.
