THE PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO WORK, AND PROMOTE EFFORTS, TO ENSURE MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS AND OTHER ACTORS ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL HARM AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

ADVOCACY AND LEGAL ACTIONS ADVOCACY AND LEGAL ACTIONS - CTEA HAS WORKED WITH PARTNERS IN GUINEA, GHANA, ZIMBABWE, NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA, TO SUPPORT LOCAL AND NATIONAL EFFORTS AIMED TO ENSURE THAT INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS AND BI-LATERAL GOVERNMENT AGREEMENTS TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE PROTECTION OF LOCAL POPULATIONS, THE ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS.


FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM - CTEA BEGAN ITS AFRICA-CHINA FELLOWS PROJECT, WORKING WITH HOSTING NGOS AND ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS IN GUINEA, GHANA, MALAWI, NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA TO IDENTIFY AND SUPPORT LAW STUDENTS AND YOUNG LAWYERS INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT, AND WORKING IN THE AREA OF, INTERNATIONAL CHINESE INVESTMENTS IN AFRICA.


EDUCATION & CAPACITY BUILDING EDUCATION & CAPACITY BUILDING - CTEA HAS WORKED WITH PARTNERS TO CONDUCT WORKSHOPS ON CHINESE AND OTHER FOREIGN INVESTMENTS, PARTICULARLY IN THE EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES, WITH THE INTENT TO INFORM IMPACTED COMMUNITIES ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ACCESS TO INFORMATION, AND TO SUPPORT LOCAL CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO PROTECT THOSE RIGHTS.
