THE HOUSING AFFORDABILITY DATA LAB - A PLATFORM WITH TRANSPARENT DATABASES, ANALYTICAL TOOLS, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR GOVERNMENT ENTITIES AND POLICY-MAKERS TO UNDERSTAND AND ACCESS DATA RELATED TO HOUSING PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION.


THE HOUSING LAB - THIS PROGRAM SERVES AS AN INCUBATOR, FUNDING AND GROWING ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE WORK IS IN LINE WITH THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION. TERNER LABS' INCUBATOR PROGRAM SUPPORTS ORGANIZATIONS THAT BUILD, MANAGE, AND FINANCE HOUSING OR PROVIDE TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORMS THAT SUPPORT THESE ACTIVITIES AND THAT ARE IN LINE WITH THE ORGANIZATION' S MISSION. PARTICIPANTS UNDERGO A 6-MONTH PROGRAM WHICH CONSISTS OF IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, ONE-ON-ONE COACHING, MATCHING WITH HIGH-QUALITY ADVISORS, REVIEW OF ITS BUSINESS MODEL, ASSISTANCE NAVIGATING HOUSING POLICY, AND RECEIVING NEEDED CAPITAL. THE HOUSING LAB ACCEPTS PROPOSALS ANNUALLY FROM BOTH NONPROFIT AND FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. EACH PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE AT LEAST AN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT GOALS, AND A PROPOSED STRATEGY CONTEMPLATING A DESCRIPTION OF THE INNOVATION, IMPACT, BUDGET AND PERSONNEL NECESSARY TO GROW AS AN ORGANIZATION.


THE CONSTRUCTION RESEARCH LAB - THIS PROGRAM CONSIST OF EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH COMPONENTS WHICH EXPLORE ISSUES RELATED TO NEW CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING. POTENTIAL RESEARCH FOCUS AREAS INCLUDE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT FOR 21 ST CENTURY CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN, COST EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES TO ACHIEVE ZERO NET ENERGY APARTMENTS, AND CODE AND BUILDING TECHNIQUES TO ACHIEVE GREATER DENSITY AND COST REDUCTIONS. THIS PROGRAM WILL HOST SEMINARS, PANELS AND MAJOR EVENTS ON EACH OF THESE THREE TOPICS AS WELL AS MORE GENERALIZED EDUCATION ON OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION FOR INDUSTRY PARTICIPANTS (I.E. CONTRACTORS, ARCHITECTS, DEVELOPERS, MANUFACTURES) AND MEMBERS OF GOVERNMENT.THE CONSTRUCTION RESEARCH LAB MAY ALSO FUND RESEARCH.
