TO BUILD, PROMOTE AND HONOR SELF-SUSTAINING AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKA NATIVE COMMUNITIES THROUGH EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP.

TO ADMINISTER SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS, CALCULATE AWARDS, DISBURSE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS, MAINTAIN FILES, REVIEW AND ADJUST AWARD AMOUNTS AND SCHOOLS AS NECESSARY, AND VERIFY ENROLLMENT AND ACADEMIC STATUS. TO PROVIDE ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT AS NEEDED, COORDINATE STUDENT AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES, AND FACILITATE COLLEGE ORIENTATION AND PROBLEM SOLVING STRATEGIES FOR STUDENTS WITH CAMPUS SERVICES STAFF. 258 STUDENTS WERE AWARDED FOR THE FALL TERM.


IDENTIFY AND RECRUIT QUALIFIED AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKA NATIVE STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR THE GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP, A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION. THERE WERE 166 TOTAL AWARDS IN THE RENEWAL PROCESS.


TO PRODUCE AND DIRECT THE GATES SCHOLAR SELECTION PROCESS EACH YEAR, WHERE ALL COMPLETE APPLICATIONS ARE REVIEWED AND EVALUATED, AND 150 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ARE CHOSEN.
