Part 3 - Line 4a

THE NEW MEXICO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE HAS TWO FACILITIES THAT PROVIDE TEMPORARY LODGING TO FAMILIES OF SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN WHO MUST LEAVE THEIR OWN COMMUNITY TO SEEK MEDICAL CARE FOR THEIR CHILD. FAMILIES OF SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN AGE 21 AND UNDER ARE ELIGIBLE TO STAY AT THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE FACILITIES. THEY MUST BE REFERRED TO ALBUQUERQUE FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT BY A PHYSICIAN AND BE UNDERGOING ACTIVE INPATIENT OR OUTPATIENT CARE AT THE CRITICAL CARE FACILITY. THE HOUSE SERVES CHILDREN RECEIVING TREATMENT AT UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, CARRIE TINGLEY HOSPITAL, PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL, LOVELACE WOMEN'S HOSPITAL, AND OTHER CRITICAL FACILITIES IN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO.

RMHCNM OPERATES TWO FAMILY ROOMS WHICH EXTEND THE COMFORT OF THE HOUSE TO A HOSPITAL SETTING. THE FAMILY ROOMS ARE LOCATED INSIDE THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AND THE PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL. LOCATED JUST STEPS FROM NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE UNITS, THESE RESPITE SPACES PROVIDE FAMILIES OF CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN A PLACE TO REST, GET SOMETHING TO EAT AND EVEN DO LAUNDRY. ADDITIONALLY, THE FAMILY ROOM AT PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL INCLUDES FOUR OVERNIGHT SLEEP ROOMS TO ALLOW FAMILIES TO STAY WITHIN STEPS OF THEIR CHILD'S HOSPITAL BED. THE FAMILY ROOMS ARE STAFFED TOTALLY BY VOLUNTEERS. IN 2021, THERE WERE MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS WHO GAVE MORE THAN 3,000 HOURS OF THEIR TIME. THE FAMILY ROOMS HAD MORE THAN 3,560 FAMILY REGISTRATIONS DURING THE YEAR.
