TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO ARCHIVISTS AND TO DEVELOP AND PROMULGATE SOUND PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES OF ARCHIVAL AND RECORDS ADMINISTRATION THROUGH AN ANNUAL MEETING, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AND PERIODICALS.

ANNUAL MEETING - PROVIDES SAA MEMBERS AND OTHER ARCHIVAL PROFESSIONALS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND PROFESSIONAL SEMINARS, SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP MEETINGS, FORUMS, AND SAA BUSINESS MEETINGS. THE FY2021 ANNUAL MEETING WAS HELD VIRTUALLY DUE TO COVID-19. APPROXIMATELY 2,582 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED THE VIRTUAL EVENT AND THERE WERE 24 EXHIBIT BOOTHS SOLD.


EDUCATION - SAA IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY CONTINUING EDUCATION THAT IS RELEVANT AND ACCESSIBLE TO PROFESSIONAL ARCHIVISTS VIA A VARIETY OF DELIVERY METHODS. SAA OFFERED 30 TOTAL PROGRAMS IN 2020-2021, WITH 1,011 PARTICIPANTS AND 2,827 ON-DEMAND WEBCAST PURCHASES.


PERIODICALS--CONSISTS OF: THE PUBLICATION OF THE AMERICAN ARCHIVIST, A FORUM FOR DISCUSSING TRENDS AND SHARING RESEARCH ON ARCHIVAL SCIENCE, WITH A SEMI-ANNUAL CIRCULATION OF OVER 5,700; PUBLICATION OF ARCHIVAL OUTLOOK, A BI-MONTHLY MAGAZINE REPORTING ON NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL NEWS OF RELEVANCE TO THE NORTH AMERICAN ARCHIVES PROFESSION; AND IN THE LOOP, A BIWEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER PROVIDING MEMBERS OF SAA WITH UPDATES ABOUT SAA ACTIVITIES AND THE PROFESSION AT LARGE.
