SOUND COMMUNITIES WILL APPLY FOR GRANTS IN THIS NEXT YEAR FOR TWO PROJECTS TO SUPPORT THE BREMERTON HOUSING AUTHORITY. THE FIRST PROJECT IS DEVELOPING A PROPOSAL FOR FUNDING A SERVICE COORDINATOR FOR THE ELDERLY PROPERTIES TO HELP THOSE RESIDENTS MORE EASILY AGE IN PLACE. BHA IS IN THE PROCESS OF RESEARCHING FUNDING ORGANIZATIONS AND DEVELOPING THE JOB DESCRIPTION AND SALARY DETERMINATION FOR THE POSITION. SOUND COMMUNITIES IS ALSO REVIEWING STATISTICS FROM THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM OPERATED BY THE BREMERTON HOUSING AUTHORITY. FUNDING IS NEEDED FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO PREVENT EVICTION, SECURITY DEPOSITS, UTILITY ASSISTANCE, AND HOTEL STAY ASSISTANCE. ONCE STATISTICS ARE GATHERED FROM THE LAST TWO YEARS OF OPERATION, FOUNDATIONS WILL BE APPROACHED TO AUGMENT THE FUNDING FOR THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
