Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
STEMM FIRE'S (SF) PRIMARY PROGRAM IS RURAL SCHOOLS SPEAKING WITH STEMM PROFESSIONALS. SF HAS REACHED 1,437 STUDENTS THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR IN OVER 14 RURAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS ACROSS KANSAS. SF HAS OVER 30 STEMM PROFESSIONALS, RANGING FROM ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS TO LINEMEN, NURSING TO ENGINEERING, AGRICULTURE SPECIALISTS TO PHYSICISTS - EACH VOLUNTEERING TIME OUT OF THEIR BUSY SCHEDULES TO SPEAK WITH RURAL MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT THEIR CAREERS AND OFFERING MENTORSHIPS AND JOBS. 37% OF THE STUDENTS SF HAS SPOKEN TO SAY STEMM IS NOW SOMETHING THEY WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT AND 28% SAY THAT STEMM NOW LOOKS "MORE FUN THAN THEY THOUGHT." SPARKING AN INTEREST AND SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS THROUGH CHALLENGING STEMM EDUCATION PATHS IS WHAT SF IS ALL ABOUT, AND IT HAS BECOME EVEN MORE IMPORTANT AS SCHOOLS RISK CLOSURES WITHOUT THESE PROGRAMS. KANSAS NOW REQUIRES CAREER EXPLORATION AND READINESS FOR SCHOOL ACCREDITATION. SF IS THE ONLY PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES IN-SCHOOL STEMM CAREER EXPLORATION FOR RURAL SCHOOLS IN KANSAS. THE FUTURE OF SF LOOKS AS BUSY AND BRIGHT AS MANY OF OUR RURAL STUDENTS - THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE ENDLESS AND EXCITING!
