TO RAISE FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF THE OTIS HISTORIC COMMISSION TO RESTORE AND REPURPOSE OTIS' HISTORIC PROPERTIES

SEE SCHEDULE OFOR THE LAST 4 YEARS, THE OTIS PRESERVATION TRUST (OPT) ORGANIZED CULTURAL PROGRAMS FOR OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2023, WE HAD 3 LOCAL PRESENTERS DISCUSS THEIR WORKS, INCLUDING A LOCAL ARTIST WHO SPOKE ABOUT HIS WORK, AN AUTHOR WHO DISCUSSED INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN OUR AREA, AND A LIFE SIZE MARIONETTE SHOW FOR THE CHILDREN IN TOWN (AS WELL AS ADULTS). WE NAMED THIS SERIES NOTICE OTIS." COST FOR THESE: $550. COORDINATING AND DELIVERING THESE PROGRAMS DEMONSTRATED OUR ABILITY AND COMMITMENT TO BRING DIVERSE CULTURAL EVENTS TO OUR TOWN. THE FORMER ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH WAS VOTED BY OUR COMMUNITY TO BECOME THE OTIS CULTURAL CENTER AT HISTORIC ST. PAUL'S, AND ONCE THE RESTORATION OF THE STRUCTURE IS COMPLETED THESE PROGRAMS WILL CONTINUE THERE. IN APRIL, OPT AND OTIS HISTORICAL COMMISSION (OHC) SPONSORED THE WANDA HOUSTON CONCERT HELD AT THE KNOX TRAIL. THIS BROUGHT VARIED MUSIC STYLES TO OUR TOWN. WANDA IS RENOWNED IN THE BERKSHIRE AREA WITH A LARGE FOLLOWING. THIS CONCERT BROUGHT PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OUR TOWN, THUS SPREADING MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE GOALS WE HAVE SET. IT WAS A FINANCIAL SUCCESS FOR THE KNOX AS IT WAS A FULL HOUSE. OPT/OHC NETTING $3,865.A CEMETERY TOUR WAS CONDUCTED IN THE SUMMER. THIS WAS HELD AT THE NORTON RD CEMETERY. THE AREA IS AHISTORICAL SITE DATING BACK TO THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. MANY OLD GRAVES ARE IN ARE STILL IN GOOD ENOUGH CONDITION TO READ ABOUT THE INHABITANTS. THE TOUR BROUGHT MANY PEOPLE, OVER 60, FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA. THE TOUR WAS CONDUCTED BY VOLUNTEERS. WE DID RECEIVE $41 IN DONATIONS. THE OTIS PRESERVATION TRUST HAD A BOOTH AT THE EAST OTIS FARMER'S MARKET EVERY WEEK FROM MEMORIAL DAY AND THROUGHOUT JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST. STAFFED BY OUR VOLUNTEERS, WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS AND EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT OUR HISTORY, AND OUR HISTORIC BUILDINGS. WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN RAISING FUNDS, AS WELL AS INCREASING AWARENESS OF OUR PROJECTS AND PURPOSE. TOTAL RAISED: $2,273. NO EXPENSES.
