EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: HKDC WILL WORK TO ADVANCE EDUCATION BY PROMOTING UNDERSTANDING IN THE UNITED STATES ABOUT THE STATE OF HONG KONG UNITED STATES RELATIONS, AND THE STATE OF THE DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM AND ITS VALUES IN HONG KONG, SO AS TO INFORM THE US MEDIA AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC ABOUT THE CURRENT STATE AND STATUS OF, AND THREATS TO, HONG KONG'S BASIC DEMOCRATIC FREEDOMS AND RIGHTS.HKDC WILL DISSEMINATE INFORMATION, ANALYSIS, COMMENTARY, AND RECOMMENDATION TO THE MEDIA, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH EDUCATIONAL BRIEFINGS, NEWSLETTERS, MESSAGING GROUPS, PRESS CONFERENCES, PUBLIC STATEMENTS, SOCIAL MEDIA POSTINGS, AND ELECTRONIC AND PRINTED REPORTS.HKDC MAY SPONSOR EDUCATIONAL AND PUBLIC CONFERENCES AND FORUMS ON VARIOUS ISSUES IN ORDER TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE OF US HONG KONG ISSUES. EXAMPLES INCLUDE SHARING AND PROMOTING COMMENTARY, ANALYSIS AND TESTIMONY FROM EXPERTS ON US HONG KONG RELATIONS TO PROVIDE AN INDEPENDENT US PLATFORM FOR HONG KONG'S CIVIL SOCIETY TO DEEPEN RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HONG KONG CIVIL SOCIETY AND ITS AMERICA COUNTERPART. THIS WILL BE DONE BY HOSTING DELEGATIONS OF HONG KONGERS IN THE US, AND FACILITATING EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGES BETWEEN THE US AND HONG KONG TO FOSTER A DEEPER MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING.HKDC MAY SPONSOR EDUCATIONAL INTERNSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS, RESEARCHERS, VISITING SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN STUDYING US HONG KONG RELATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES TO PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE IN ADVOCATING FOR DEMOCRACY.
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: HKDC WILL WORK TO STRENGTHEN THE COLLECTIVE IDENTITY AND ENGAGEMENT OF HONG KONGERS RESIDING, STUDYING, OR WORKING IN THE US, BY CONDUCTING FACE TO FACE AND ONLINE OUTREACH, CONVENINGS AND TRAINING FOR SUCH ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. TO EFFECTUATE THIS GOAL, THE CORPORATION WILL FACILITATE SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE LOCAL PRESENTATIONS ON HONG KONG; PROVIDE TRAININGS IN CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, COMMUNITY ORGANIZING, AND GENERAL ADVOCACY FOR US HONG KONGERS; AND SHARE AND PROMOTE EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES OF US HONG KONG GROUPS AND OTHERS INTERESTED IN LEARNING AND OR SUPPORTING DEMOCRACY IN HONG KONG, NATIONALLY.HKDC MAY RECRUIT AND MAINTAIN AN ADVISORY BOARD OF ACADEMIC, POLICY, AND CIVIL SOCIETY EXPERTS AND LEADERS INT HE US WHO BEST UNDERSTAND HONG KONG'S DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS AND ARE BEST POSITIONED TO BE AUHORITATIVE SOURCES OF ANALYSIS.HKDC WILL WORK TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEMOCRACY AND FURTHERANCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN HONG KONG SO AS TO LESSEN THE BURDEN ON THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT IN PROMOTING DEMOCRACY ABROAD, HKDC WILL BY ADVOCATING UNITED STATES POLICIES IN SUPPORT OF DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENTS IN HONG KONG.
