OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE HOLISTIC SUPPORT TO YOUTH AND FAMILIES FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES THROUGH CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.

LEADERSHIP & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM- LAB WITNESSED MANY SUCCESSES IN ITS FIRST YEAR. SHORTLY AFTER THE PROGRAMS LAUNCH, THE FIRST COHORT WAS OVERFILLED. WE INITIALLY INTENDED TO SERVE A MAXIMUM OF 12 GIRLS PER COHORT, BUT ENDED UP OPENING THE PROGRAM UP TO 16 GIRLS DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING APPLICATION RESPONSE. OUR GOAL FOR THE FIRST YEAR WAS TO SUCCESSFULLY SERVE 30 GIRLS, BUT BY THE END OF YEAR 1, 38 GIRLS COMPLETED AND GRADUATED THE PROGRAM. THIS MEANS ALL OF THE GIRLS WHO WERE RECRUITED AND SIGNED UP FOR THE PROGRAM WERE ENGAGED AS MEASURED BY THEIR ATTENDANCE RECORD AND ANSWERED POSITIVELY TO SURVEY RESPONSES REGARDING WHAT THEY LEARNED IN THE PROGRAM. 100% OF THE GIRLS WHO COMPLETED THE PROGRAM ANSWERED POSITIVELY TO THE SATISFACTION SURVEY. YOUNG COMMUNITY BUILDERS (YCB) 2022 MARKED FIVE SUCCESSFUL YEARS OUR AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM SERVING LOW-INCOME BIPOC REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT YOUTH IN THE SOUTH SEATTLE NEIGHBORHOOD OF RAINIER VISTA. YCB SERVES YOUTH AGES 6-14 YEARS OLD AND PROVIDES THEM WITH A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD SPACE TO BUILD COMMUNITY WITH STAFF AND PEERS WHO LOOK LIKE THEM, SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGES AND CAN RELATE TO THEIR UNIQUE LIVED EXPERIENCES AS REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS/ THE CHILDREN OF REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS. WHILE IN THE PROGRAM, YOUTH ARE PROVIDED WITH ENRICHMENT AND TEAM BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES WHILE BEING ENGAGED AS LEADERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH CENTERED COMMUNITY BUILDING PROJECTS. AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE PROGRAM IS THE MINDFULNESS CURRICULUM WHICH SERVES TO PROVIDE YOUTH WITH A SELF CARE TOOL THAT HELPS THEM EMOTIONALLY REGULATE AND DESTRESS.
