FRIENDS OF PATERSON PARKS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BASED IN PATERSON NEW JERSEY. ITS MISSION IS TO PROTECT ENHANCE AND ADVOCATE FOR THE CITY'S PARK SYSTEM BY PURSUING GRANT OPPORTUNITIES SOLICITING CORPORATE DONATIONS CONDUCTING ANNUAL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS AND PURSUING ALL AVAILABLE AVENUES OF FUNDRAISING EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CITY PARKS. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED IN 2019 BY DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PASSIONATE ABOUT PRESERVING AND IMPROVING PATERSON'S PARKS. THEY RECOGNIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC GREEN SPACES FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE VITAL ROLE THAT PARKS PLAY IN CREATING A SENSE OF PLACE AND IDENTITY FOR PATERSON'S RESIDENTS. ROBERTO CLEMENTE PLAYGROUND THE FRIENDS OF PATERSON PARKS HAS PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PATERSON'S FIRST INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AT ROBERTO CLEMENTE PARK. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY'S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND THE MAYOR'S OFFICE THE ORGANIZATION HELPED SECURE FUNDING FOR THE NEW PLAYGROUND AND OVERSAW THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FACILITY. THE INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND FEATURES A VARIETY OF PLAY STRUCTURES DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE CHILDREN OF ALL ABILITIES INCLUDING THOSE WITH MOBILITY SENSORY AND COGNITIVE CHALLENGES. THE FRIENDS OF PATERSON PARKS RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF CREATING INCLUSIVE PLAY SPACES THAT PROMOTE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SOCIAL INTERACTION FOR CHILDREN OF ALL BACKGROUNDS.
CLINTON STREET PARK THE FRIENDS OF PATERSON PARKS HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLINTON STREET PARK IN PATERSON. IN 2022 THE ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO PROVIDING PATERSON HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WITH FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT RECOGNIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC GREEN SPACES FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE COMMUNITY. THE NEW PARK IS EXPECTED TO SERVE AS A HUB FOR COMMUNITY GATHERINGS OUTDOOR RECREATION AND CULTURAL EVENTS FOR YEARS TO COME.
LESTER TITUS FIELD THE FRIENDS OF PATERSON PARKS FPP PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN TRANSFORMING LESTER TITUS FIELD INTO A SAFE AND ACCESSIBLE PLAY SPACE FOR THE COMMUNITY. THROUGH THEIR COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY OF PATERSON FPP SECURED THE SUPPORT OF MARILYN CLARK WHO GENEROUSLY DONATED $600,000 TO THE PROJECT. WITH THIS FUNDING THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE A NEW TURF FIELD CONCRETE DUGOUTS AND NEW LIGHT BULBS. THE FPP AND THE CITY OF PATERSON'S JOINT EFFORT WILL CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR DR. FRANK NAPIER SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY TO ENGAGE IN RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN THE SPRING OF 2023.
