GREEN NEW DEAL HOUSING TAKES A COMMUNITY-BASED APPROACH TO PROVIDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING, BUILD A GREEN WORKFORCE, AND REMEDY PERSISTENT ECONOMIC AND RACIAL INJUSTICE. IN 2023, THE ORGANIZATION COMPLETED AND SOLD OUR ZERO NET ENERGY PILOT HOME TO AN INCOME QUALIFIED FAMILY. ADDITIONALLY, OUR WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAM HAS INTRODUCED THE CONCEPTS OF GREEN BUILDING TO MORE THAN 40 COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND HAVE TRAINED 30 TRADESPEOPLE. WE ALSO OFFERED A NEW TRAIN THE TRAINER (T3) PROGRAM, A FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR CONSTRUCTION-RELATED EDUCATORS AND TRADES PEOPLE TO INCORPORATE GREEN BUILDING PRINCIPLES AND SKILLS INTO THEIR TRADES INSTRUCTION. IMPORTANTLY, 5 OF THE 16 ENROLLED PARTICIPANTS WERE WOMEN, WHICH IS A VERY HIGH PROPORTION IN AN INDUSTRY WITH FEW WOMEN. THIS TRAINING WILL BE COMPLETED NEXT YEAR.
