THE PERUVIAN NON-PROFIT CALLED ASOCIACION OPERACION SAN ANDRES (OSA-PERU) HAS FACILITIES IN COLLIQUE, LIMA, PERU THAT ARE USED FOR A DAILY EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT AND NUTRITION PROGRAM. APPROXIMATELY 65 PRE-SCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN (AGES 5 TO 11)AND 40 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CHILDREN AND TEENS ARE PROVIDED NUTRITIOUS MEALS, AND THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT CHRIST. THEY ALSO RECEIVE EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT IN SCHOOL SUBJECTS LIKE READING AND MATH. CRAFTS, RECREATION, DRAMA CLASSES, AND FIELD TRIPS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CHILDREN ALSO RECEIVE TRAINING IN SOCIAL SKILLS AND DEVELOP IMPROVED SELF-ESTEEM. OSA-PERU ALSO PAYS TUITION AND OTHER FEES FOR APPROXIMATELY 7 COLLEGE STUDENTS. THE COLLEGE STUDENTS ALSO RECEIVE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND SPIRITUAL COUNSELING DURING THEIR TIME IN COLLEGE.
THE PERUVIAN NON-PROFIT, OSA-PERU, SPONSORS A PROGRAM CALLED "TALITA CUMI" WHICH PROVIDES EDUCATION TO WOMEN IN COLLIQUE, PERU REGARDING THE CAUSES AND PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. GRANTS FROM OPERACION SAN ANDRES ARE USED FOR THE SALARY OF THE SOCIAL WORKER WHO COORDINATES THIS PROGRAM AND ALSO FOR EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS REGARDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. OSA-PERU USES SOCIAL MEDIA AND VIRTUAL METHODS SUCH AS ZOOM, FACEBOOK LIVE AND VIDEOS FOR THE PROMOTION AND EXECUTION OF ITS PROGRAMS. GRANTS FROM OPERACION SAN ANDRES WERE USED FOR EXPENSES OF OPERATING A RECORDING STUDIO AND TO PAY FEES TO A COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST WITH EXPERTISE IN VIDEOGRAPHY. OPERACION SAN ANDRES BELIEVES THAT THE UNIVERSAL KEY TO SUSTAINABLE ESCAPE FROM POVERTY IS BETTER EDUCATION. GRANTS FROM OPERACION SAN ANDRES ARE USED TO PAY TUITION AND FEES FOR 7 HIGH-SCHOOL GRADUATES ENROLLED IN HIGHER EDUCATION. OSA-PERU ALSO SPONSORED CLASSES, PRIMARILY FOR YOUNG MOTHERS, TO TRAIN THEM IN INCOME PRODUCING SKILLS SUCH AS BAKING, KNITTING AND BASIC BUSINESS SKILLS SUCH AS BUDGETING AND MONEY MANAGEMENT. GRANTS FROM OPERACION SAN ANDRES ARE USED FOR INSTRUCTOR SALARIES AND TO PURCHASE TRAINING MATERIALS. EACH YEAR, OSA-PERU HOSTS VOLUNTEER MISSION TEAMS FROM THE USA. THESE VOLUNTEERS CONDUCT MEDICAL AND DENTAL CLINICS. IN 2023, OSA-PERU SPONSORED MINISTRY PROGRAMS IN THE ALTO MAYO REGION IN THE NORTHEASTERN PART OF PERU. GRANTS FROM OPRACION SAN ANDRES WERE USED TO PARTIALLY FUND PROGRAMS AT THE ANNIE SOPER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL AND THE LUKE SOCIETY.
THE PROBLEM OF FOOD INSECURITY FOR FAMILIES IN POOR AREAS OF PERU WAS EXACERBATED BY ECONOMIC DISRUPTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC AND CONTINUES TO BE SEVERE DUE TO HIGH INFLATION FOR FOOD PRODUCTS. THE PERUVIAN NON-PROFIT ASOCIACION OPERACION SAN ANDRES (OSA-PERU) RESPONDED WITH PROGRAMS TO ALLEVIATE HUNGER IN THE COMMUNITY OF COLLIQUE, LIMA, PERU. GRANTS FROM OPERACIN SAN ANDRS WERE USED TO PURCHASE LARGE QUANTITIES OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS SUCH AS RICE, SUGAR, BEANS, COOKING OIL, LENTILS, ETC. THESE FOOD ITEMS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO ABOUT 70 SOUP KITCHENS AROUND COLLIQUE WHICH PROVIDED ONE NUTRITIOUS MEAL FOR ABOUT 4000 PEOPLE EACH DAY. AN EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT OF THE SOUP KITCHEN PROGRAM INCLUDES TRAINING IN HABITS OF HEALTHY LIVING AND CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP. IN 2023, OSA ESTABLISHED A PILOT PROJECT TO GROW VEGETABLES USING HYDROPONICS AT THE LOS JAZMINES COMMUNITY. THIS TECHNIQUE REQUIRES MINIMAL AMOUNTS OF WATER AND SELECTED NUTRIENTS.
THE LUZ DE ESPERANZA EVANGELICAL CHURCH, OWNED BY THE PERUVIAN NON-PROFIT ASOCIACION OPERACION SAN ANDRES (OSA-PERU), HAS A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE THE SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN COLLIQUE, PERU.
