HFHSWU PROVIDES NO-PROFIT, NON-INTEREST BEARING MORTGAGE NOTES TO HOMEOWNERS PURCHASING A HFHSWU HOME. IN ADDITION, HFHSWU PROVIDES NO- PROFIT, NON-INTEREST BEARING PROMISSORY NOTES FOR RECIPIENTS OF ITS NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION INITIATIVE (NRI) REPAIR PROJECTS.
THE PRIMARY SERVICE PROGRAM IS THE CONSTRUCTION OR REHABILITATION OF HOMES TO PROVIDE SAFE, DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, UTAH. HFHSWU BUILDS ONE TO TWO HOMES PER YEAR. THROUGH IT'S A BRUSH WITH KINDNESS PROGRAM, HFHSWU PROVIDES A REPAIR SERVICE FOR ROUGHLY A DOZEN LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS ANNUALLY RANGING FROM MINOR YARD CARE TO COMPLEX ROOF REPAIRS. IN ADDITION, HFHSWU PAYS A TITHE TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL TO PROVIDE SAFE AND DECENT HOUSING FOR FAMILIES IN CAMBODIA, MEXICO, BRAZIL, AND HAITI.
THE HABITAT RESTORE (A HOME IMPROVEMENT DISCOUNT OUTLET) IS AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. THE RESTORE HELPS FUND HFHSWU PROGRAMS AND HELPS RECYCLE ITEMS IN THE COMMUNITY. CURRENTLY THE RESTORE PROVIDES SUFFICIENT INCOME TO PAY HFHSWU'S OPERATING AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES, REDUCES WASTE FROM LANDFILL, AND GIVES THE COMMUNITY AN ECONOMICAL WAY TO IMPROVE THEIR HOMES. THE RESTORE IS OPEN SIX DAYS PER WEEK AND SERVES A POPULATION OF 180,000.
