AVSAR IS A 501(C)3 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ALAMOSA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. AVSAR SERVES ALAMOSA COUNTY FOR ALL SEARCH AND RESCUE NEEDS, PRIMARILY ON THE BLANCA MASSIF, WHICH FEATURES THREE OF THE STATE'S 14,000 FOOT PEAKS (BLANCA, ELLINGWOOD, AND LITTLE BEAR). AVSAR IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO ASSIST OTHER OCUNTIES WITHIN THE STATE OF COLORADO BY MUTUAL AID. IN CASES WHERE MUTUAL AID IS REQUESTED, AVSAR RESPONDS TO OUT OF COUNTY MISSIONS ASSITING WITH SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS. AVSAR FREQUENT RESPONDS TO MISSIONS IN CONEJOS, SAGUACHE, COSTILLA, AND HUERFANO COUNTIES.
