THE PASADENA CIVITAS CLUB WAS CREATED TO PROVIDE A UNIQUE SPACE WHERE CIVICALLY MINDED PEOPLE CAN COME TOGETHER IN AN INFORMAL ENVIRONMENT TO DEVELOP MORE COMPLETE PERSPECTIVES AND IDEATE MEANINGFUL NEW COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS. TO ACHIEVE ITS PURPOSE, AND FROM ITS FORMATION IN 2019, CIVITAS HAS HAD ONLY ONE ACTIVITY: THE CONVENING OF MEMBERS IN SCHEDULED MEETINGS FOR CONVERSATIONS ON RELEVANT CIVIC TOPICS. THE MEETINGS ARE BROKEN INTO TWO PARTS. THE FORMAL PORTION OF THE MEETING FEATURES AN EXPERT(S) ON THE TOPIC AND HIS/HER PERSPECTIVE AND INSIGHTS. THE MEETING THEN CONTINUES TO A MORE INFORMAL DISCUSSION OF SAID TOPIC. BECAUSE THE EMPHASIS IS ON UNPLANNED, HIGH VALUE COLLISIONS AMONG A DIVERSE AND DYNAMIC GROUP, THE UNSTRUCTURED, UNPROGRAMMED TIME IS CRUCIAL. THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS THE FORMATION AND STRENGTHENING OF CRITICAL RELATIONSHIPS IN HOPES THAT SOME OF THESE RELATIONSHIPS WILL LEAD TO NEW BENEFICIAL COLLABORATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE CLUB.IN 2021, THE CLUB HELD MEETINGS VIRTUALLY. THEY WERE HELD ALTERNATING WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS THROUGH THE YEAR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE HOLIDAY PARTY AT THE END OF THE YEAR FOR WHICH REFRESHMENTS WERE PURCHASED. ALL OTHER EXPENDITURES WERE FOR CONFERENCE CALL SUBSCRIPTION AND THE GENERAL ADMINISTRATION OF THE CLUB.
