LAAL PROVIDES RESOURCES THAT BENGALI WOMXN NEED TO LIVE HEALTHY ENGAGED JOYFUL LIVES.

LAAL IS CONDUCTING A CAREFULLY DESIGNED ASSESSMENT SURVEY OF 300 WOMXN USING MATERIALS ACCESSIBLE ENTIRELY IN BANGLA AND SYLHETI THE BENGALI DIALECT MOST SPOKEN IN NORWOOD. LAAL ALSO CREATED A COMMUNITY GARDEN TENDED BY OUR WOXN TO SERVE AS A SAFE PLACE FOR WOMXN TO COME TOGETHER DISCUSS PRESSING ISSUES WORK WITH SOIL IN PLANTING MEDICINAL FOOD HERBS HARVEST PRODUCE AND SHARE WITH EACH OTHER. IN FY2022 LAAL BEGAN DEVELOPING ITS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE INITIATIVE. THIS IS A HISTORIC AND MONUMENTAL STEP TOWARDS HOLISTICALLY ADDRESSING GENDER ROLES AND INCREASING EPISTEMOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE TO AN EXTREMELY NEGLECTED POPULATION-- BANGLADESHI WOMEN.


WE HOLD THREE BEGINNERS INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED ESL COURSES ACCORDING TO THEIR LEVEL EACH WEEK. THESE CLASSES FOSTER A SAFE SPACE FOR OUR WOMXN TO GAIN THE NECESSARY LITERACY AND LINGUISTIC SKILLS TO ADAPT AND ACCLIMATE TO LIFE IN THE BRONX. WE FACILITATE AN ALL-WOMXN'S SPACE WHERE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UNDERSTAND CELEBRATE AND NOURISH THEIR OWN BODIES THROUGH STRUCTURED AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE CLASSES AND PROGRAMS.


OUR TEAM WORKS HARD TO GATHER RELEVANT DATA TO INFORM PROGRAMS AND POLICIES THAT BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITY. THROUGH OUR DATA COLLECTION WE UTILIZE THE PRINCIPLES OF EQUITY CONFIDENTIALITY AND TRANSPARENCY. OUR WORK HAS INCLUDED: COVID-19 IMPACT CENSUS INITIATIVE & DEMOGRAPHIC SURVEY AND NEEDS-BASED ASSESSMENT.
