Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

MATERNAL SUPPORT: IN 2021, THE MATERNAL COLLECTIVE PIVOTED TO SUPPORTING FAMILIES THROUGH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. PREGNANT PEOPLE AND RECENTLY BIRTHING PEOPLE EXPERIENCED A WIDE RANGE OF TRAUMA RELATING TO BIRTH RIGHTS AND LOSS OF WAGES AND JOBS. WE HOSTED EDUCATION SESSIONS FOR DOULAS AND PROVIDERS TO SUPPORT AND DISCUSS ISSUES FACING FAMILIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. IN ADDITION, WE DEVELOPED EDUCATION MATERIALS AND BIRTH RIGHTS ADVOCACY DOCUMENTS BECAUSE BIRTHING PEOPLE WERE FORCED TO BIRTH ALONE WITH NO SUPPORT. THIS ALLOWED THEM TO KNOW THEIR RIGHTS AND HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR THEIR BIRTH EXPERIENCE IN THE ABSENCE OF SUPPORT SYSTEMS. WE IMPLEMENTED THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES TO HEALING BIRTH TRAUMA, ENGAGING WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PROVIDE HOLISTIC SERVICES TO FAMILIES THAT EXPERIENCED ADVERSE BIRTH OUTCOMES. IN ADDITION, WE WRAPPED UP THE DATA COLLECTION PROGRAM.
