Part 3

JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF FY 2021, THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR (AD) OF PUGET SOUNDWORKS STEPPED DOWN, SO WE TOOK A HIATUS FROM SINGER-FACING OPERATIONS (I.E., WE DID NOT HOLD AUDITIONS, REHEARSE, OR PRODUCE ANY NEW MUSIC). INSTEAD, THE LEADERSHIP TEAM SEARCHED FOR A NEW AD, DEVELOPED ROBUST COVID PROTOCOLS FOR OUR EVENTUAL RETURN TO SINGER-FACING OPERATIONS, AND PREPARED A VIRTUAL HOLIDAY SINGALONG EVENT, HOLIDAZZLE, FEATURING VIDEOS OF FAVORITES FROM PUGET SOUNDWORKS' EXISTING WINTER REPERTOIRE, PLUS HOLIDAY POP SONGS. THIS ONE-NIGHT-ONLY LIVE VIRTUAL EVENT REACHED OVER 150 GUESTS. WE ONBOARDED OUR NEW AD IN FEBRUARY 2022 AND BEGAN RAPID PREPARATIONS FOR OUR FIRST IN-PERSON CONCERT SINCE THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC. DUE TO OUR RIGOROUS PLANNING, REHEARSALS FOR OUR 59 ACTIVE SINGERS RESUMED WITH ROBUST COVID PROTOCOLS IN PLACE. THE CONCERT PROGRAM, CALLED BELONGING, WAS DESIGNED TO SHARE THE MESSAGE THAT YOU BELONG HERE AND WE ALL BELONG TOGETHER. IT FEATURED 14 WORKS PERFORMED BY THE FULL CHORUS, STORIES OF BELONGING FROM SINGERS, AND A PERFORMANCE BY A NATIVE AMERICAN GUEST ARTIST. THE CONCERT WAS PRESENTED IN TWO LIVE PERFORMANCES IN SEATTLE AND KIRKLAND AND THREE ONLINE PERFORMANCES AND REACHED 475 GUESTS. DUE TO A VARIETY OF REASONS, ATTRITION THROUGHOUT THE REHEARSAL SEASON RESULTED IN 38 ACTIVE SINGERS FOR THESE PERFORMANCES.
