DIETETIC INTERNSHIP APPLICATION SUPPORT PROGRAM (DAS)OUR DAS PROGRAM PROVIDES APPLICATION PREPARATION SUPPORT TO BIPOC STUDENTS WHO ARE APPLYING TO SUPERVISED PRACTICE DIETETIC INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS. PARTICIPANTS ARE MATCHED WITH DAS PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS, WHO PROVIDE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WITH ONE-ON-ONE FEEDBACK ON THEIR DIETETIC INTERNSHIP AND DICAS APPLICATIONS. DAS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN OUR APPLICATION PREP WORKSHOPS, WHICH HELP APPLICANTS TO PREPARE STRONG PERSONAL STATEMENTS, RESUMES AND TO IMPROVE THEIR INTERVIEW SKILLS. THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE AT NO COST TO STUDENTS.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS IT IS UNDENIABLE THAT THE COST OF ENTERING THE FIELD OF DIETETICS IS A HUGE BARRIER TO THE DIVERSITY OF THE NUTRITION PROFESSION. THIS IS WHY WE WORK WITH PARTNERS AND OUR COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS, INTERNS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS. IN 2022, WE HAVE PROVIDED OVER $45,000 IN FINANCIAL AID TO 18 DESERVING STUDENTS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD OF NUTRITION.
MENTOR PROGRAMOUR MENTOR PROGRAM PAIRS NUTRITION STUDENTS, DIETETIC INTERNS AND NEWLY CREDENTIALED PROFESSIONALS WITH PRACTICING RDNS IN THEIR SUBFIELD OF CHOICE. MENTEES HAVE MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH THEIR MENTORS AND DISCUSS TOPICS FROM CODE-SWITCHING AND WORK CULTURE TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. IN 2022, 180 MENTORS AND MENTEES PARTICIPATED IN THE MENTOR PROGRAM.
