PROVIDED $2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS TO 24 GTE FINANCIAL STUDENT MEMBERS TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AND REWARD YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE DEDICATED TO ACEDEMIC PURSUITS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION WITH THIS ACTIVITY APPROXIMATED $30,970.


PROVIDED $15,000 TO THE YMCA- CAMPO. THIS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO PUT JUDEO-CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY FOR ALL. YMCA- CAMPO SERVES HILLSBOROUGH AND EAST PASCO COUNTIES. THE CAMPO FAMILY YMCA SERVES SOUTH BRANDON, VALRICO, BLOOMINGDALE, AND FISH HAWK. THIS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE RIGOROUS AND RELEVANT LEARNING EXPERIENCES WHICH SERVE THE EDUCATION NEEDS OF ADULTS THROUGH LITERACY, HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION, WORKFORCE PREPARATION, PERSONAL ENRICHMENT, AND TECHNOLOGY. EAST AREA ADULT SCHOOL SERVES THE EAST SIDE OF POLK COUNTY WITH MANY SATELLITE LOCALES IN THE NEEDIEST NEIGHBORHOODS. THEY PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS WHO GO ON TO ATTEND TRAVIS OR RIDGE TECHNICAL COLLEGE.


ENTERPRISING LATINAS, INC RECEIVED $10,000. THIS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO CREATE PATHWAYS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR LATINAS IN TAMPA BAY. ENTERPRISING LATINAS SERVES MAINLY TAMPA BAY, BUT ALSO FOCUSES ON THE PREDOMINANT LOW-INCOME AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY OF WIMAUMA, FLORIDA IN SOUTH HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY. THEY USE THESE FUNDS IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER GRANT MONIES RAISED TO SUPPORT, OVER THE COURSE OF ONE YEAR, APPROXIMATELY 15 LOANS OF AN AVERAGE OF $2,000 EACH. THESE LOANS ARE EXPECTED TO BE PAID BACK WITHIN 6-12 MONTHS, AT ZERO INTEREST.
