WE INVEST IN A VARIETY OF EXPERIMENTS WITH THE AIM OF MOVING THE FIELD FORWARD AND SOLVING FUNDAMENTAL CHALLENGES TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE SPECIES ON EARTH.IN A MOMENT OF NEED, WE ARE EXTENDING THE POWER OF AI TRANSLATION PAST HUMAN LANGUAGE. ITS AN APOLLO-LIKE MISSION TO UNITE THE IMAGINATION OF HUMANITYAND IGNITE OUR COLLECTIVE ACTION.BASED IN BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, WE ARE (1) BUILDING AN OPEN-SOURCE TOOLKIT FOR TRANSLATING LANGUAGES WITHOUT DICTIONARIES OR ROSETTA STONES, EXTENDING RECENT RESEARCH FROM FIELDS LIKE UNSUPERVISED MACHINE TRANSLATION; AND (2) CREATING AN OPEN-SOURCE PLATFORM OF DATA FOR RESEARCH, COLLABORATION, AND PUBLIC WONDER.WITH ANOTHER SPECIESS LANGUAGE AS OUR PATH TO CHANGING HUMAN IDENTITY, WE ARE WORKING WITH THE WORLD'S PRE-EMINENT TECHNOLOGISTS, ANIMAL RESEARCHERS, SCIENTISTS, AND MOVEMENT BUILDERS TO INSPIRE OUR SPECIES. THE EARTH SPECIES PROJECT SPENT 2021 FURTHERING OUR GOAL OF (I) DECODING ANIMAL COMMUNICATIONS AND LANGUAGE, (II) PRESERVING BEHAVIORAL BIODIVERSITY AND (III) FUELING FURTHER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES. THE EARTH SPECIES PROJECT HAS DEVELOPED AND STAFFED THREE CORNERSTONE RESEARCH PROGRAMS: SELF-SUPERVISED ETHOGRAM DISCOVERY, OPEN SOURCE BIOACOUSTICS AND KINEMATIC BENCHMARKS, AND ENERATIVE VOCALIZATIONS FOR PLAYBACK EXPERIMENTS. WE FORMALIZED THREE NEW BIOLOGY PARTNERSHIPS AND PUBLISHED OUR FIRST PEER REVIEWED PAPER. OUR RESEARCH PARTNERS INCLUDE: UNIVERSITY OF ST.
