TO ADVANCE A JUST, EQUITABLE, AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD THROUGH ADVOCACY, FUNDING AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES.

WDN ACTION EXPANDED ITS GRANTMAKING STRATEGY AND PROGRAM IN 2021 AND FOCUSED ON FOSTERING THE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF WOMEN AND BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND PEOPLE-OF-COLOR COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS ON COMMUNITY POWER-BUILDING. WDN ACTION MADE $7,660,000 IN GRANTS TO 70 ORGANIZATIONS DURING 2021. THESE GRANTS INCLUDED SUPPORT FOR ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE WORKING TO ADVANCE VOTING RIGHTS, FAIR ELECTIONS, REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, RACIAL JUSTICE, AND IMMIGRATION JUSTICE. WDN ACTION GRANTS ALSO SUPPORTED ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO ENGAGE YOUNG IMMIGRANTS AND NATIVE AMERICANS TO ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES AND TO DEEPEN THE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF BLACK AMERICANS IN THE SOUTH. AS PART OF ITS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH TO ENGAGE WOMEN DONORS IN THIS ADVOCACY AND GRANTMAKING STRATEGY, THE ORGANIZATION HELD SEVERAL EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WOMEN DONORS NETWORK'S VIRTUAL ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN NOVEMBER 2021. THESE SESSIONS WERE ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 125 WOMEN DONORS WHO LEARNED ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION'S STRATEGY AND ACCOMPLSIHMENTS AND HEARD DIRECTLY FROM SEVERAL WDN ACTION GRANT RECIPIENTS ABOUT THE IMPACT OF THEIR WORK. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED ITS IN-PERSON LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM DURING 2021.
