THE MISSION OF THE MFMGA IS TO REPRESENT MASSACHUSETTS MOBILE GEAR FISHERMEN BEFORE THE PUBLIC AND REGULATORS TO PRESERVE AND ENHANCE ACCESS TO MASSACHUSETTS FISHERY RESOURCES BASED ON THE BEST AVAILABLE SCIENCE. THE MFMGA ADVOCATES FOR FISHERMEN IN ORDER TO RETAIN AND ENHANCE THEIR FISHING RIGHTS, ACCESS TO AREAS, AND TO ADDRESS AND RECTIFY ANY PROBLEM WHICH POSES HARM TO THE MOBILE GEAR COMMUNITY. THE MFMGA WORKS TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF THE FISHERMEN BY COMMUNICATING WITH THE REGULATORS, ATTENDING FISHERIES MANAGEMENT MEETINGS, UTILIZING THE PRESS AND SOCIAL MEDIA, COORDINATING WITH NATIONAL FISHERY ADVOCACY GROUPS WITH SIMILAR GOALS, AND MAINTAIN A WEBSITE TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC.
