THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS AND PRESENTATIONS WE STARTED THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS FOR OUR NEXT PRODUCTION - DRACULA ANNOTATED - SET TO PREMIERE IN OCTOBER OF 2025. IN THIS PIECE WE INVESTIGATE BRAM STOKERS DRACULA, WEAVING TOGETHER OUR UNIQUE BLEND OF HISTORICAL INVESTIGATION AND HEIGHTENED THEATRICALITY TO CREATE A NEW WORK FROM THE CORE OF THE NOVEL. THIS IS THE SECOND IN A SERIES OF ANNOTATED PRODUCTIONS IN WHICH WE EXPLODE AND EXPLORE CLASSIC OR WELL-KNOWN AND CULTURALLY INFLUENTIAL WORKS TO DISRUPT MORE FAMILIAR OR COMFORTABLE WAYS OF ENGAGING WITH THEM. WE PRESENTED THREE PUBLIC THEATRICAL EVENTS - AN ILLUMINATED LECTURE CALLED THE MARVELOUS PUPPET SHOW WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER A TALK BY UCLA PROFESSOR BARBARA FUCHS WITH PERFORMANCES BY THEATRE DYBBUK ENSEMBLE MEMBERS - AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF LOS ANGELES. THE SECOND EVENT WAS THE BOND, A RITUAL OF MEDITATIVE WALKING AND MEMORIAL ROCK LAYING AS A COMMUNAL PROCESSING OF LOSS AT THE PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH SOCIETY. THEATRE DYBBUK RESIDENCIES COMBINES ELEMENTS FROM ALL OF OUR OTHER PROGRAMS - BRINGING TOGETHER SCHOLARSHIP AND THEATRICALITY, ARTS AND EDUCATIONAL ENGAGEMENT CONNECTED TO JEWISH HISTORY TO COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA. IT INCLUDES -PRESENTATIONS OF OUR FULL-LENGTH THEATRICAL WORK, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE ANNOTATED, OR IN SOOTH I KNOW NOT WHY I AM SO SAD AND A COMPANION PERFORMANCE ART PIECE, THE VILLAINY YOU TEACH -PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL INSTITUTIONS TO PRESENT TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS, IN WHICH THEY LEARN TECHNIQUES TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONSTITUENTS AND STUDENTS AROUND THE TOPICS BROUGHT UP IN THE PERFORMANCES AND BEYOND. -CURRICULA CONNECTED TO THE PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE TO LEARNERS AND EDUCATORS. IN FY 24 WE SPENT A WEEK EACH IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA PORTLAND, OREGON ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA BALTIMORE, MARYLAND/WASHINGTON, DC SEATTLE, WASHINGTON. THESE RESIDENCIES PRESENTED PROGRAMING FOR A TOTAL OF 1450 PARTICIPANTS.
