NEW AFRICA CDC CONTINUED TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY SPECIFIC MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER COUNSELING TO 25 HOUSEHOLDS/INDIVIDUALS FROM THE NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY IN RESPONSE TO TRAUMA EXPERIENCED BECAUSE OF COVID-19 AND COMMUNITY/POLICE VIOLENCE. FUNDED BY THE CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS (CONTRACT). NEW AFRICA CDC BEGAN PREDEVELOPMENT WORK ON "THE MILLER," A MIXED-USE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE 1501-1531 WEST BROADWAY BLOCK INTO 91 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE, WORKFORCE HOUSING OVER 20,000 SF OF COMMERCIAL SPACE TO BE ANCHORED BY GARDEN FRESH GROWORKS, A 15,000 SF INDOOR FARM. FUNDED BY GREATER MINNESOTA HOUSING FUND. NEW AFRICA CDC RECEIVED A GENERAL OPERATING SUPPORT END-OF-THE-YEAR GRANT FROM THE WEGE FOUNDATION. FUNDS WERE USED TO SUPPLEMENT THE PREDEVELOPMENT WORK OF THE MILLER PROJECT, WHEN EXPENSES EXCEEDED THE $25,000GRANT FROM THE GREATER MINNESOTA HOUSING FUND.
