ALL BOARDS BENEFIT FROM THE UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE OF NURSES TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF IMPROVED HEALTH, EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE HEALTH SYSTEMS AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVELS. THE COALITION DEFINES A BOARD AS A DECISION-MAKING BODY WITH STRATEGIC INFLUENCE TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF COMMUNITIES NATIONWIDE. THIS INCLUDES CORPORATE, GOVERNMENT, NON-PROFIT, ADVISORY, GOVERNANCE BOARDS OR COMMISSIONS, PANELS, OR TASK FORCES THAT HAVE FIDUCIARY OR STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITY.

SUPPORTING NURSES IN BECOMING BOARD-READY BY EDUCATING AND TRAINING THEM TO LEARN ABOUT THE EXPECTATIONS AROUND SERVING ON A BOARD AND TO LEVERAGE CONNECTIONS TO FIND A BOARD TO SERVE ON. ALSO, PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES IN ORDER TO PREPARE NURSES FOR BOARD SERVICE.FACILITATED BOARD PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES WITH 66 SEARCHES AND 35 CONFIRMED PLACEMENTS. 10,545 BOARD SEATS FILLED BY NURSES, 3,543 SERVING WHO WANT TO SERVE ON AN ADDITIONAL BOARD, AND 12,685 WHO WANT TO SERVE ON A BOARD. INCREASED DATABASE REGISTRATIONS TO 24,431. INCREASED NOBC NEWS MONTHLY NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS TO 19,235 WITH OPEN RATE OF 42%. ENGAGED 1,786 USERS/MONTH VIA NOBC WEBSITE. PRESENTED AT 33 CONFERENCES/PRESENTATIONS/MEETINGS IN PERSON AND VIRTUAL.AWARDED GRANT OF $83,745 FROM THE AMERICAN NURSES FOUNDATION TO COMMENCE PROJECT "SUPPORTING UNDERREPRESENTED NURSES FOR SUCCESSFUL BOARD SERVICE." THE OVERALL PROGRAM GOAL IS TO INCREASE HEALTH EQUITY ACROSS AMERICA THROUGH THE INCREASED NUMBER OF MINORITY AND UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITY NURSES SERVING ON BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND APPOINTMENTS.
