BASEBALL & SOFTBALL TRAINING - IN 2023, BUBA OPERATED 758 BASEBALL & SOFTBALL TRAINING SESSIONS FOR OVER 1,332 HOURS FOR BALTIMORE CITY & OTHER AREA YOUTH (EXCL. #2 & #3 BELOW). THE PROGRAMS OF HITTING, PITCHING, CATCHING & FIELDING, INCLUDED BOYS/GIRLS, AND WERE CONDUCTED FOR INDIVIDUALS IN DROP-IN SESSIONS, PRIVATE LESSONS, NEW ATHLETE ORIENTATION, SKILLS SESSIONS, CAMPS AND FOR SMALL AND LARGE GROUPS, IN THE AGE CATEGORIES OF: 12U,12+,14U, HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE ATHLETES. THERE WERE 3,409 PARTICIPANTS, HOWEVER THE COUNT IS MOST LIKELY UNDERSTATED BECAUSE OF A LACK OF RESOURCES TO "CHECK-IN" ALL PARTICIPANTS. YOUTH FROM BALTIMORE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ATTEND SESSIONS WITHOUT CHARGE WHILE EX-CITY YOUTH ARE CHARGED PER A FEE SCHEDULE.
USE OF THE FACILITY BY LOCAL TEAMS - IN 2023, BUBA PROVIDED EXCLUSIVE USE OF ITS FACILITY TO 15 YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL ORGANIZATIONS (EXCLUDING PRO-BONO FACILITY USE DESCRIBED IN #3) FOR A TOTAL OF 73 SESSIONS AND 327 HOURS. THE ORGANIZATIONS REPRESENTED YOUTH FROM ALL AGE CATEGORIES: 12U, 12+,14U, HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE. GROUPS PRIMARILY USE THE BUBA FACILITY DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN OUTDOOR SPORTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THE USE OF BUBA'S FACILITY ALLOWS ORGANIZATIONS TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN SPORTS DURING A TIME LEAGUE COMPETITION IS NOT IN PLAY, GIVING PARTICIPANTS A CHANCE TO WORK ON THEIR SKILLS WITHOUT THE DISTRACTION. ORGANIZATIONS ARE CHARGED ACCORDING TO AN HOURLY FEE SCHEDULE.
PRO-BONO FACILITY USE FOR LOCAL BASEBALL & SOFTBALL TEAMS - BUBA PROVIDES ITS FACILITY PRO-BONO TO VARIOUS BALTIMORE CITY YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS, ENSURING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO BASEBALL & SOFTBALL PROGRAMS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE UNAFFORDABLE FOR MANY TEAMS. ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS SOUTH BALTIMORE LITTLE LEAGUE, JAMES MOSHER BASEBALL, CARROLL PARK ATHLETICS, VISIONS SELECT BASEBALL, EDRICO AND NORTHWOOD LITTLE LEAGUE BENEFITED FROM HUNDREDS OF FREE FACILITY HOURS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THIS INITIATIVE SUPPORTS GROWTH & SUSTAINABILITY OF THESE PROGRAMS AND PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG ATHLETES FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. IN 2023, BUBA PROVIDED 119 SESSIONS FOR 237 HOURS OF PRO-BONO FACILITY ACCESS TO THESE YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS.
