OGA DISSEMINATED RESEARCH PROVEN HORTICULTURAL INFORMATION TO INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO INCREASE THE PUBLIC'S AWARENESS OF GOOD GARDENING PRACTICES. WITH APPROXIMATELY 90 MEMBERS, OGA VOLUNTEERS SPENT 2,258 HOURS WORKING TO ACHIEVE THE PROGRAM GOALS IN 2021. MEMBERS ASSEMBLE FOR MONTHLY MEETINGS WHERE NOTEWORTHY GARDEN LECTURERS, PROFESSORS, AND AUTHORS SPEAK TO THE GROUP. OGA OFFERED GARDENING SUPPORT TO THE COMMUNITY BY E-MAIL, VIA WEBSITE, AND IN PERSON. HORTICULTURAL PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND THE PUBLIC ARE INVITED TO OGA MONTHLY MEETINGS WHEN NATIONALLY KNOWN SPEAKERS ARE SCHEDULED. VOLUNTEERS PRESENTED EDUCATIONAL CURRICULA SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR ELEMENTARY CHILDREN (E.G. BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF EARTHWORMS) TO SCHOOLS, AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL VENUES. OGA INFORMATIONAL BOOTHS ARE SET UP AT NUMEROUS VENUES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING THE HOME AND GARDEN SHOWS, LANDSCAPING SHOWS, WATER CONSERVATION EVENTS, AND OTHER GARDENING EVENTS. OGA ALSO PROVIDED SPEAKERS FOR VARIOUS GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. THE OGA WEBSITE FEATURES PROGRAMS OFFERED TO THE COMMUNITY, GARDEN TIPS EACH MONTH, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND GARDEN-RELATED LINKS. THERE IS NO PAID ADVERTISING ON THE WEBSITE. OGA HAS PARTNERED WITH WILL ROGERS GARDENS AND URBAN MISSION CHILDREN'S GARDENS TO BROADEN PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE HORTICULTURAL EDUCATION, GARDEN SUPPORT, AND ACTIVITIES. OGA PROGRAMS ARE AIMED AT ASSISTING THE HOME AND HOBBY GARDENERS IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.
