OWEB 2018-2027 HALFWAY CREEK INSTREAM RESTORATION - IN 2020, THE SMITH RIVER WATERSHED COUNCIL TREATED 4 MILES OF HALFWAY CREEK WITH OVER 600 PIECES OF LARGE WOOD.OVER 400 PIECES WERE STORM DAMAGED AND DOWNED WOOD LOCATED WITHIN THE BLM RIPARIAN MANAGEMENT RESERVE. LOGS, ROOTWADS AND WHOLE TREES WERE PLACED IN THE CREEK BY A LINE PULLER, ALLOWING FOR A VERY LOW COST OF PLACEMET. 175 LOGS AND 80 BOULDERS WERE PLACED BY EXCAVATOR AT 17 ADDITIONAL SITES IN HALFWAY CREEK. ALSO IN 2020 SRWC TREATED 2.25 MILES OF SOUTH FORK SMITH RIVER AND LITTLE SOUTH FORK SMITH RIVER WITH 300 PIECES OF LARGE WOOD AND 700 BOULDERS AT 27 SITES. LARGE TREES WERE CUT OR PUSHED OVER. LOGS AND LOGS WITH ROOTWADS WERE USED.


WASSON CREEK REPARIAN RESTORATION WYSU 18-1: 18 ACRES WERE CLEARED OF INVASIVE HIMALAYAN BLACKBERRY BY MOWER, AND RESPROUTS WERE TREATED WITH AQUATIC SAFE HERBICIDE. REPLANTING WITH NATIVE TREE SPECIES WILL BEGIN IN 2022.


BIG CREEK INSTREAM RESTORATION PHASE III 2018-2005: REMAINING FUNDS WERE USED TO STAGE MATERIAL FOR A SECOND SERIES OF HELICOPTER PLACEMENTS. THIS PROJECT WAS NOT IMPLEMENTED UNTIL 2021 DUE TO A LOGISTICAL ISSUE WITH A PARTNERING ORGANIZATION. MATERIAL WAS STAGED FOR EVENTUAL PLACEMENT.
