TO SUPPORT EFFECTIVE VOLUNTEER ADVOCCY FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN IN THE 6TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT, AND ENSURE EVERY CHILD A SAFE, PERMANENT AND NURTURING HOME.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROVIDE AN ADVOCATE FOR MINOR CHILDREN. WHEN A MINOR CHILD IS CONSIDERED TO BE IN IMMINENT DANGER AND IS REMOVED FROM THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN A JUDGE APPOINTS A SPECIAL ADVOCATE (CASA) TO REPRESENT SAID CHILD. THE CASA CONDUCTS AN INVESTIGATION OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES AFFECTING THE CHILD AND SUBMITS A REPORT TO THE COURT WITH RECOMMENDATIONS THAT PROTECT THE CHILD. THE COURT THEN MAKES A DETERMINATION BASED ON THE CASA REPORT AS TO THE BEST PATH FORWARD FOR THE CHILD. WHILE THE INVESTIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED THE CHILD IS PLACED WITH OTHER RELATIVES OR IN FOSTER CARE.
