THE ALLIANCE FOR SENIOR HEALTH CARE FINANCING IS COMMITTED TO ADVOCATING ON BEHALF OF SENIOR CITIZENS WITH HEALTH CARE ISSUES TO THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH AND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN ORDER TO HELP AMERICANS SECURE THEIR LONG-TERM CARE. ASHCF EDUCATES KEY STAKEHOLDERS IN OUR NATION'S CAPITAL ABOUT THE LIFE SETTLEMENT INDUSTRY, WITH THE GOAL OF INCREASING AWARENESS OF LIFE SETTLEMENTS AS AN OPTION FOR SENIORS LOOKING FOR CREATIVE SOLUTIONS TO HEALTH CARE PROBLEMS.

DEVELOPING AND ADVOCATING FOR A FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL THAT WOULD CREATE SENIOR HEALTH PLANNING ACCOUNTS (SHPA). THE PROPOSAL WOULD PERMIT SENIORS WHO SELL THEIR LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES TO ROLL OVER SOME OR ALL OF THOSE PROCEEDS TAX-FREE INTO A SHPA. THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION WOULD ALLOW SENIORS TO MAKE BETTER USE OF EXISTING ASSETS THEY ALREADY OWN TO PAY FOR HEALTH CARE COSTS, INCLUDING LONG-TERM CARE, AND WOULD PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO SENIORS AND SAVE TAXPAYER COSTS. TO DEVELOP THIS PROPOSAL, ASHCF CONSULTED WITH POLICY MAKERS AND THEIR STAFF, AND THIRD-PARTY ORGANIZATIONS.
