THE FOUNDATION ADDRESSES ISSUES SUCH AS FOOD INSECURITIES, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, SAFE PLACES TO PLAY, LEARN, AND GROW, AND DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION BY CREATING AND EXPANDING YOUTH PROGRAMMING THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS.

THE DEVILS YOUTH FOUNDATION INVESTS IN ORGANIZATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT IMPACT YOUTH THROUGHOUT NEW JERSEY. FOUNDATION SUPPORTS SAFE SPACES FOR KIDS, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, HOLIDAY DRIVES AND ENSURES KIDS ACCESS TO THE ARTS AND MUSIC EDUCATION. THE FOUNDATION FUNDED THE BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF ESSEX, HUDSON, & UNION COUNTIES, JERSEY CARES, BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF NEWARK, COMMUNITY FOODBANK OF NJ AND BELIEVE IN NEWARK PROGRAMS.SAFE SPACES FOR KIDS:BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF NEWARKPRIORITIES: EVERY YOUNG PERSON DESERVES THE OPPORTUNITY TOBUILD A GREAT FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES, BY ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN SCHOOL, DEVELOPING A STRONG CHARACTER, AND LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.BGCN BELIEVES IN ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF THE "WHOLE CHILD" - THEY HOUSE A FREE DENTAL CLINIC, EYE CARE CENTER AND FAMILY WELLNESS CENTER AT THEIR CLUBHOUSE, AND THEIR PROGRAMS FOCUS ON CULTIVATING HEALTHY HABITS IN NEWARK'S CHILDREN. PREVIOUS FUNDING WENT TO "TECHNICAL SUPPORT" WHICH INCLUDED THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN. THE DEVILS YOUTH FOUNDATION IS DONATING $25,000 FOR THE BGCN'S TRIPLE PLAY PROGRAM. TRIPLE PLAY RESEARCH CONFIRMS THAT EXERCISE MAKES YOUNG BRAINS READY TO LEARN. CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAMS EXERCISE AT LEAST 60 MINUTES A DAY, THREE DAYS A WEEK. THROUGH ACTIVITIES INCLUDING BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, SWIMMING, DANCE, AND FREE PLAY, ARE A VEHICLE FOR CHILDREN TO ENGAGE IN TEAM ACTIVITIES, WHILE INCREASING ENDURANCE, STRENGTH, AND CONFIDENCE.NEWARK DAY CENTERNEWARK DAY CENTER IS A MULTIFACETED, INNOVATIVE, AND PACE-SETTING COMMUNITY AGENCY SERVING CHILDREN, YOUTH, ADULTS, AND SENIORS. NEWARK DAY CENTER IS THE OLDEST SOCIAL SERVICES AGENCY IN NEW JERSEY. IT IS ALSO THE THIRD OLDEST IN THE NATION. NEWARK DAY CENTER'S MISSION IS TO CONTINUE THEIR LONG TRADITION OF TRAINING THE POOR OF ALL AGES IN THE GREATER NEWARK AREA TO HELP THEMSELVES. NEWARK DAY CENTER PROVIDES THIS HELP THROUGH THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, FRESH AIR FUND, ADULT TRAINING, PARENT AIDE PROGRAMMING, AND SENIOR INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES. IT WAS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED IN 1803 AS THE NEWARK FEMALE CHARITABLE SOCIETY. THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES CARE FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS, AND PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION FOR OVER 200 CHILDREN AGED 3 MONTHS TO 5 YEARS.BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF ESSEX, HUDSON, & UNION COUNTIES, NEW JERSEYBIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS HAS OPERATED UNDER THE BELIEF THAT INHERENT IN EVERY CHILD IS INCREDIBLE POTENTIAL. AS THE NATION'S LARGEST DONOR- AND VOLUNTEER-SUPPORTED MENTORING NETWORK, BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS MAKES MEANINGFUL, MONITORED MATCHES BETWEEN ADULT VOLUNTEERS ("BIGS") AND CHILDREN ("LITTLES"), AGES 5 THROUGH YOUNG ADULTHOOD IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. WE DEVELOP POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS THAT HAVE A DIRECT AND LASTING EFFECT ON THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE. FOUNDED IN 1904, 270 AGENCIES ACROSS 50 STATES, SERVED NEARLY 2 MILLION YOUTH IN JUST THE PAST DECADE. MORE THAN 400,00 YOUTH, THEIR FAMILIES, THEIR MENTORS, AND OTHER MISSION-CRITICAL VOLUNTEERS ARE PART OF BBBS EVIDENCE-BASED MENTORING PROGRAM ANNUALLY. ENSURING ACCESS TO THE ARTS AND MUSIC EDUCATION:JAZZ HOUSE KIDSJAZZ HOUSE KIDS HAS GAINED A REPUTATION AS ONE OF THE NATION'S PREEMINENT ARTS EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE ORGANIZATIONS. OUR MISSION IS TO TRANSFORM YOUNG LIVES AND OPEN DOORS TO THE FUTURE BY OFFERING PRE-PROFESSIONAL, YEAR-ROUND MUSICAL TRAINING ALONG WITH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR K-12 STUDENTS FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS. THIS YEAR, WE HAVE WORKED WITH RWJBARNABAS HEALTH TO IDENTIFY THE CANCER CENTER AT SAINT BARNABAS MEDICAL CENTER AS A SPACE WITHIN THEIR SYSTEM IN NEED OF SUPPORT AND RENOVATION. THE CANCER CENTER AT SAINT BARNABAS MEDICAL CENTER SEES THOUSANDS OF PATIENTS PER MONTH WHO ARE UNDERGOING TREATMENT. CREATING A WARM AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR COMMUNITY DURING THEIR VISIT REMAINS A TOP PRIORITY. FUNDS FROM THIS YEAR'S HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT WILL HELP UPDATE THIS SPACE TO PROVIDE THE BEST PATIENT CARE. SUMMER FUN IN THE CITYFOUNDED BY MAYOR RAS J. BARAKA, THE CITY OF NEWARK'S "SUMMER FUN IN THE CITY" OFFERS A VARIETY OF ATHLETIC, ARTISTIC, CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE SAFER STREETS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. EACH THURSDAY IN THE SUMMER, NEW JERSEY DEVILS AND PRUDENTIAL CENTER EMPLOYEES VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME SETTING UP INFLATABLE HOCKEY RINKS, GIVEAWAYS AND OTHER ACTIVATIONS TO TEACH THE GAME OF HOCKEY TO OVER 1,000 NEWARK RESIDENTS.CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATIONIT IS THE MISSION OF THE CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATION (CAF) TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPORT TO PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL CHALLENGES, SO THEY CAN PURSUE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES THROUGH PHYSICAL FITNESS AND COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS. THE CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATION BELIEVES THAT INVOLVEMENT IN SPORTS AT ANY LEVEL INCREASES SELF-ESTEEM, ENCOURAGES INDEPENDENCE AND ENHANCES QUALITY OF LIFE. FOUNDED IN 1994, 50 STATES, 70 INTERNATIONAL COUNTRIES, 20 MILLION ATHLETES REACHED, 103 SPORTS SUPPORTED. HOLIDAY DRIVES: JERSEY CARESJERSEY CARES, A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, ESTABLISHED IN 1993, RECRUITS AND ENGAGES VOLUNTEERS IN REWARDING, EFFECTIVE EFFORTS THAT ADDRESS COMMUNITY-IDENTIFIED NEEDS. FOR THE PAST 24 YEARS, THE JERSEY CARES COAT DRIVE HAS MOBILIZED THE COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THOUSANDS OF NEW AND GENTLY USED WINTER COATS TO MEN, WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND INFANTS IN NEED. BELIEVE IN NEWARKTHE BELIEVE IN NEWARK FOUNDATION, INC. SERVES AS A VEHICLE TO PROVIDE RESOURCES, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND FOSTER GREATER GIVING TO SUPPORT THE NONPROFIT COMMUNITY AND THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF NEWARK.
