THROUGH SHARED ARTS EXPERIENCES, INDIVIDUALS OF DIVERSE AGE AND CULTURE DISCOVER HIDDEN TALENTS AND NEW INTERESTS, DEVELOP SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE PERSONAL GROWTH, AND BUILD LASTING RELATIONSHIPS. ARTS ALIVE SENIORS OUTREACH PROGRAM: OUR ARTS ALIVE PROGRAM AT COUNTY SENIOR CENTERS, REC CENTERS, AND SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SENIORS TO JOIN ACTIVELY IN VARIOUS FORMS OF ART AND MOVEMENT WITH OTHER SENIORS, BUILDING CONNECTIONS AND HONING NEW SKILLS. LED BY SKILLED TEACHING ARTISTS, SENIORS EXPERIENCE THINKING, CREATIVITY, AND EXPERIMENTING AND REPORT "WONDERFUL FEELINGS... VERY HAPPY AND FULFILLED."
OTHER PROGRAM EXPENSES INCLUDE SUMMER DAY AND SLEEPAWAY CAMPS FOR ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS; JUMP START WITH THE ARTS FOR PRE-SCHOOLSERS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS; DAILY ANTIDOTE OF SONG, PROVIDING VIRTUAL MUSICAL ENGAGEMENT DAILY, GEARED FOR THE HOMEBOUND BUT OPEN TO ALL; AND OTHER COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS (COMMUNITY SINGS, COMMUNITY DANCES, SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES, CONCERTS, ETC).
YOUTH ARTBEAT: CARPE DIEM ARTS' OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMMING FOR ELEMENTARY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, YOUTH ARTBEAT INTRODUCES VARIOUS ART FORMS TO HELP CHILDREN AND YOUTH EXPRESS THEMSELVES, WHILE THEY BUILD FRIENDSHIPS, FIND MENTORS, AND EVEN GET HOMEWORK HELP. WHILE STUDIES SHOW THIS TYPE OF PROGRAM HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT ON A CHILD'S COMMUNICATION SKILLS, SENSE OF SELF-WORTH, AND ACCEPTANCE OF OTHERS, IT ALSO FOSTERS AN OFTEN LONG-RANGING INTEREST IN THE ARTS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED THROUGH CREATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH HOUSING ORGANIZATIONS, OTHER NON-PROFITS, AND LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND ARE MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH GRANTS, PARTNER FUNDING, AND INDIVIDUAL DONOR SUPPORT.
UKES ON THE MOVE: THE UKES ON THE MOVE PROGRAM OFFERS THE SPARK TO INGNITE THE IMAGINATIONS OF YOUNG STUDENTS, TYPICALLY IN THE THIRD GRADE, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING THE EXPERIENCE OF SUCCESS IN ACQUIRING A SKILL THAT IS TANGIBLE AND REAL. ACROSS 6 WEEKLY SESSIONS, STUDENTS LEARN 3-4 SIMPLE CHORDS AND BASIC STRUMMING TECHNIQUES, ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO PLAY HUNDREDS, EVEN THOUSANDS OF SONGS. STUDENTS ALSO COLLABORATE ON A CLASS SONG, WITH THE SUPPORT OF OUR TEACHING ARTIST. IN-SCHOOL PERFORMANCES AND FIELD TRIPS TO PERFORM OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL HELP TO BUILD STUDENTS' CONFIDENCE IN THEIR NEW MUSIC-MAKING SKILLS, AND THAT CONFIDENCE CARRIES OVER INTO OTHER AREAS OF THEIR LIFE. MODELING THE UKULELE INSTRUCTION FOR THE SCHOOL'S MUSIC TEACHER AND PROVIDING A CLASSROOM SET OF UKULELES MAKES THE LEARNING SUSTAINABLE.
