AMERICAN LEGACY THEATRE ALT GENERATES INVITING REIMAGINED THEATRICAL EXPERIENCES FOR ALL PEOPLE TO HAVE A VOICE IN ENRICHING SOCIETY. OUR VISION IS TO ASPIRE FOR A DAY WHEN EVERY AMERICAN HAS ACCESS TO THE EMPATHY-BUILDING ART FORM OF THEATRE AND HAS A RESPECTED VOICE IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS. TODAY ALT CREATES A MORE EQUITABLE TOMORROW THROUGH ACCESSIBLE THEATRE BYWAY OF FOUR KEY PROGRAMS: IN CLASSROOMS IN COMMUNITY IN HOMES AND IN WORKPLACES. OUR WORK FOCUSES ON DEEP IMPACT VS BROAD IMPACT AND WE SERVED 2,350 PEOPLE.

ALT IN CLASSROOMS IS THE FLAGSHIP PROGRAM OF THE ORGANIZATION THAT FOCUSES ON DEEP IMPACT VS BROAD REACH. IN CLASSROOMS IS BUILT TO SERVE UP TO 20 STUDENTS AT A TIME IN A COHORT WITH THE AVERAGE COHORT RECEIVING 20 CONTACT HOURS OF DIRECT INSTRUCTION FROM ALT STAFF AND PROFESSIONAL TEACHING ARTISTS. THIS PROGRAMMING SAW EXPONENTIAL GROWTH DUE TO ITS INNOVATIVE STAGES THAT ALLOW ALT TO MEET STUDENTS AND PARTNERS WHERE THEY ARE DEVELOPMENTALLY. THE MOST IMPACTFUL ITERATION OF THIS PROGRAM IS WHERE STUDENTS CREATE CHANGE BY WRITING DESIGNING AND ACTING IN THEIR OWN ORIGINAL PRODUCTION AROUND COMMUNITY ISSUES CRITICAL TO THEM. THE STUDENTS ALSO OVERSEE A BUDGET AND ARE GUIDED THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS BY ALT STAFF AND TEACHING ARTISTS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR STORYTELLING CAPABILITIES TO PRESENT IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE MADE UP OF THE COMMUNITY. TRULY THIS PROGRAMMING SERVES YOUTH AND EMPOWERS THEM TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM GREW TO NEARLY 20 COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND SERVED YOUTH AS YOUNG AS PRESCHOOL AND THROUGH TO GRADE 12. THIS WORK SAW A MONUMENTAL DISCOVERY IN ITS PILOT WITH KINDERGARTEN READINESS TO ACHIEVE MORE PROGRESS IN 5 WEEKS THAN IS STANDARD PROGRESS IN 52 WEEKS.
ALT IN COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS A MYRIAD OF WORK THAT DONE BY PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS IN SERVICE TO COMMUNITY. THIS YEAR'S PROGRAMMING INCLUDED A 24-HOUR ORIGINAL PLAY FESTIVAL THAT GENERATED TEN WORLD PREMIERES INSPIRED BY A RURAL OHIO COMMUNITY'S HISTORY A PILOT PARTNERSHIP TO SEE HOW THEATRE ARTS COULD BE LEVERAGED TO SUPPORT OVERALL WELL-BEING AND WORKPLACE GROWTH FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH DOWN SYNDROME AND HIGHLIGHTED BY AN INITIAL PILOT WITH THE DEPT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION SERVICES THAT TOURED SOUTHWEST OHIO HIGH SCHOOLS TO HELP ARTICULATE CAREER PATHWAYS IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH BUILD AWARENESS FOR THE MOBILE RESPONSE STABILIZATION SERVICES AND REDUCE STIGMA AROUND MENTAL HEALTH. THIS TOUR FEATURES AN ORIGINAL PLAY WRITTEN BY ALT'S EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & CEO.
ALT IN HOMES IS A THEATRE INNOVATION THAT IS NEW TO THE UNITED STATES. AN ARTIST IS PAIRED WITH A COMMUNITY MEMBER HOST AND THE TWO MEET FOR A 1:1 CONVERSATION. THE HOST SHARES ALL THAT THEY WANT ABOUT THEMSELVES AND DETERMINE PARAMETERS AND OFF-LIMIT AREAS. IN AS LITTLE AS ONE WEEK LATER THE ARTIST INSPIRED BY THE HOST'S CONTENT BUILDS AN ORIGINAL ONE-PERSON SHOW THAT THE ARTIST PERFORMS FOR A MICRO-AUDIENCE HAND SELECTED BY THE HOST IN THE HOST'S HOME - PHYSICALLY OR DIGITALLY. THE PERFORMANCE IS CAPTURED VIA VIDEO AND MADE AVAILABLE ON THE ALT HOME THEATRE LIBRARY. NOW THIS EXCLUSIVE AND CUSTOMIZED EXPERIENCE BECOMES UNIVERSALLY ACCESSIBLE ON DEMAND REGARDLESS OF SOCIO-ECONOMICS AND GEOGRAPHY. IN TWO YEARS ALT HAS GENERATED OVER TEN IN HOMES WORLD PREMIERES WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE PIECES BUILT WITH STORIES OF PEOPLE LIVING AT 200% FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL AND BELOW.
