TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS STARTING SMALL, LOCAL FOOD BUSINESSES, AS WELL AS WORKFORCE TRAINING IN THE CULINARY FIELD.

OUR TARGET POPULATION ARE MINORITIES HISPANIC, AFRICAN AMERICAN, AND NATIVE AMERICAN WHO ARE LIVING AT OR BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL AND LIVE IN THE BERNALILLO COUNTY AREA, WITH A FOCUS ON ALBUQUERQUE'S SOUTH VALLEY. APPROXIMATELY 45 OF OUR OPERATING FUNDS ARE FROM FOOD SALES AND CATERING. OUR PROGRAM INCLUDES COURSES IN FOOD SAFETY, CULINARY FUNDAMENTALS, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AS WELL AS A 135-HOUR PAID INTERNSHIP. WE BELIEVE THIS TYPE OF EDUCATION AND APPRENTICESHIP FOR INDIVIDUALS IN OUR TARGET POPULATION WILL ALLOW INDIVIDUALS TO BE PREPARED TO START THEIR OWN FOOD-RELATED BUSINESS OR ENTER THE FOOD INDUSTRY WORKFORCE AT A HIGHER PAY AND RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL.
