TO PROVIDE SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING, PROSTITUTION, AND ADDICTION WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR ECONOMIC SELF-EMPOWERMENT, HOUSING, HEALING, RECOVERY, AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT.

HEALING AND RECOVERY SERVICES IN 2019 WE OPENED THE DOORS TO OUR HEALING & RECOVERY SERVICES. THROUGH THIS NON-RESIDENTIAL SETTING, WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING SERVICES FREE OF COST TO SURVIVORS OF ALL GENDER IDENTIFICATIONS: - INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP THERAPY SERVICES - SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES - PEER SUPPORT GROUPS - TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA, SPIRITUALITY, AND MINDFULNESS CLASSES.


RESIDENTIAL SERVICES OPENED IN 2017, OUR LONG-TERM RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM OFFERS UP TO TWO YEARS OF RENT-FREE, SAFE, SOBER HOUSING FOR ADULT WOMEN WHO HAVE SURVIVED PROSTITUTION/SEX TRAFFICKING, TRAUMA, AND ADDICTION. THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM INCLUDES INTENSIVE, TRAUMA-INFORMED CASE MANAGEMENT, AND HOPE AND HEALING DELIVERED THROUGH THE POWER OF A PEER SUPPORT COMMUNITY. RESIDENTS MEET INDIVIDUALIZED ACHIEVEMENT MILESTONES AT APPROXIMATELY SIX-MONTH INTERVALS. THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OFFER SPACE AND TIME TO HEAL FROM TRAUMA, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. RESIDENTS WILL RECEIVE ANY TREATMENT THEY MAY NEED FOR MEDICAL, DENTAL, MENTAL, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES, AS WELL AS LEGAL ASSISTANCE. WE PROVIDE A RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING SUCH AS FINANCIAL LITERACY TRAINING, LIFE SKILLS, COMPUTER LITERACY, ART THERAPY, AND VOCATIONAL OR OTHER EDUCATIONAL TRAINING BASED ON EACH WOMAN'S UNIQUE LONG-TERM GOALS. RESIDENTS GAIN JOB TRAINING SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE THROUGH OUR SURVIVOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AT THISTLE LIGHTS AND VOILA! MAGDALENE BLOOMS.THE MAGDALENE RECOVERY MODEL IS UNIQUE IN ITS RELIANCE ON COMMUNITY AND ITS EMPHASIS ON SELF-SUFFICIENCY. RESIDENTS SERVE AS PEER MENTORS AND SURVIVOR-LEADERS, TAKING ON LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE PROGRAM AS THEY PROGRESS THROUGH IT AND AFTER THEY GRADUATE.EACH WOMAN WHO GRADUATES FROM THE PROGRAM IS AWARDED THE TITLE OF SISTER FOR LIFE. EACH GRADUATE REMAINS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR COMMUNITY, AND CAN RECEIVE ONGOING SUPPORT THROUGH GRADUATE SERVICES.


THISTLE LIGHTS IN 2018, MAGDALENE OMAHA LAUNCHED ITS OWN SURVIVOR-LED SMALL BUSINESS, THISTLE LIGHTS. THIS IS WHERE WE OFFER PHASE I OF OUR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.SINCE ITS OPENING, THISTLE LIGHTS HAS BECOME A CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION. IT'S ALSO A SAFE SPACE WHERE SURVIVORS CAN LEARN AND GROW, FEEL A PART OF A LOVING COMMUNITY, CREATE ART, AND EXPRESS THEMSELVES THROUGH THEIR CRAFT. FOR THAT REASON, WE'VE BEGUN TO INCREASE THE SURVIVOR SUPPORT OFFERED IN THIS LOCATION, REFERRING TO THESE LEARNING AND COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES AS THE NEW BEGINNINGS CAMPUS. THIS ALSO IS WHERE WE OFFER CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO SURVIVORS COMMUNITY-WIDE, AND WHERE WE PROVIDE ONGOING SUPPORT TO GRADUATES OF OUR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM.


VOILA! MAGDALENE BLOOMS IN THE BEGINNING OF MARCH 2020, VOILA! WAS ACQUIRED BY MAGDALENE OMAHA TO PROVIDE PHASE II JOB TRAINING FOR THEIR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR SURVIVORS. GRADUATES OF MAGDALENE OMAHA'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAM CAN GAIN VITALLY IMPORTANT JOB TRAINING THROUGH SHORT-TERM EMPLOYMENT AT THISTLE LIGHTS, THEN VOILA! MAGDALENE BLOOMS.
