THE SC RURAL COMMUNITY AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, INC., (SC RCWD) IS A 501(C)3 AND IS HOUSED AT THE CURL INSTITUTE IN REMBERT, SOUTH CAROLINA. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE RESOURCES THAT ENABLES THE GROWTH AND RETENTION OF RURAL BUSINESSES. IN ADDITION TO ADDRESSING COMMUNITY DISPARITIES, A SERVICE BUSINESS INCUBATOR WILL PROVIDE MANAGEMENT GUIDANCE, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND CONSULTING THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO EXISTING AND NEW BUSINESSES. THE SERVICE BUSINESS INCUBATOR WILL NOT HOUSE BUSINESSES, BUT RATHER WILL PROVIDE MEETING SPACE, OFFICE RESOURCES, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, MENTORING AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND SUPPORT. THIS WILL INCREASE ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND JOB DEVELOPMENT. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WILL OFFER CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS, WORKSHOPS, SOFT SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS. WORKFORCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS THROUGH STATE AND FEDERAL OFFERINGS (APPRENTICESHIPS ETC.) WILL BE PROVIDED. NATIONAL AND REGIONAL INFORMATION, WEBINARS, ARTICLES, BEST PRACTICES AND PROVEN BUSINESS STRATEGIES AND OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE PROVIDED ALONG WITH COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING. OBJECTIVES - O TO UTILIZE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES THAT WILL ENABLE JOB GROWTH AND RETENTION (I.E., ENTREPRENEURSHIP, APPRENTICESHIP, SOFT SKILLS ETC.). O TO PROVIDE SMALL AND AGRI-BUSINESSES ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER RESOURCES THROUGH A RURAL SERVICE BUSINESS INCUBATOR. O TO IMPROVE THE GROWTH AND RETENTION OF RURAL BUSINESSES AND AGRI-BUSINESSES THROUGH TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND BEST PRACTICES. O TO PROVIDE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, FINANCIAL LITERACY, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS TO YOUTH AND ADULTS THAT WILL LEAD TO JOB CREATION AND RETENTION. O TO PROVIDE MENTORING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES TO YOUTH AND ADULTS THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO ADDRESS EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATIONAL, AND CAREER NEEDS TO OBTAIN EITHER FURTHER STUDY, JOB/CAREER ACQUISITION, OR DEVELOP BUSINESS START-UPS. O TO PROVIDE ACCESS AND INFORMATION TO PARTICIPANTS ABOUT WORKSHOPS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OFFERED BY LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. O TO ADDRESS SOCIO-ECONOMIC DISPARITIES (HEALTH) AND COMMUNITY ISSUES (RESEARCH SHARECROPPING, ETC.).
