SEE SCHEDULE OIN ITS THIRD FULL YEAR OF EXISTENCE AS A MEDICAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION, THE CHAN ZUCKERBERG BIOHUB, INC. ("BIOHUB") IS NOW FULLY OPERATIONAL. CONSISTENT WITH OUR MISSION, WE ARE FOCUSING ON SEVERAL LARGE-SCALE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMS, EACH WITH ITS OWN MULTI-YEAR LIFETIME. THESE TAKE ON THE FOLLOWING FORMS:1. INTERNAL PROJECTS EMPHASIZING BASIC SCIENCE AND SOME CLINICAL RESEARCH FOCUSED ON:A. INFECTIOUS DISEASEB. CELL BIOLOGY2. COMPLEMENTARY, COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS THROUGH THE CHAN ZUCKERBERG INVESTIGATORS PROGRAM AND AFFILIATE GIFT PROGRAM.INFECTIOUS DISEASE INITIATIVE HIGHLIGHTS1. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHAN ZUCKERBERG INITIATIVE, CREATED AND LAUNCHED IDSEQ, A HYPOTHESIS-FREE GLOBAL SOFTWARE PLATFORM THAT HELPS SCIENTISTS IDENTIFY PATHOGENS IN METAGENOMIC SEQUENCING DATA.2. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION'S GRAND CHALLENGES EXPLORATIONS COMPETITION, INTRODUCED IDSEQ AND SEQUENCING CAPABILITY FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASE IN CAMBODIA, VIETNAM, MADAGASCAR, KENYA, SOUTH AFRICA, NEPAL, PAKISTAN, THE GAMBIA, MALAWI, AND BRAZIL. THE BIOHUB PROVIDES IN-HOUSE TRAINING FOR GROUPS OF SCIENTISTS FROM EACH OF THESE COUNTRIES AND PROVIDES IN-COUNTRY SUPPORT THROUGH ACCESS TO IDSEQ.3. PROVIDED RESEARCH SUPPORT TO LOCAL CLINICS, INCLUDING UCSF, TO IDENTIFY UNKNOWN PATHOGENS THROUGH OUR RAPID RESPONSE PROGRAM, WHICH UTILIZES BROAD-SCALE IN-HOUSE SEQUENCING.CELL BIOLOGY INITIATIVE HIGHLIGHTS1. CONCLUDED AND PUBLISHED A LARGE-SCALE CELL ATLAS MAPPING PROJECT (TABULA MURIS SENIS) WHICH STUDIES THE TRANSCRIPTOMIC EFFECTS OF AGING ACROSS MANY TISSUES IN MICE. THE DATA AND PREPRINTS ARE ALL PUBLICLY AVAILABLE.2. TAGGED OVER 1,700 HUMAN PROTEINS IN CELL LINES AND CREATED CELLULAR PROTEIN AND INTERACTION DATABASE (OPENCELL).3.
