WE PROVIDE A PLATFORM FOR ARTISTS TO CREATE VIBRANT ART EXPERIENCES ON THE WEST END OF ALAMEDA THAT BRING TOGETHER LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUDIENCES AROUND THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS. OUR EVENTS AND PROGRAMS OFFER NEW PERSPECTIVES, SPARK CONVERSATION, AND ENGAGE WITH THE LANDSCAPE WE LIVE IN.

FREE PUBLIC PROGRAMMING: WEST END ARTS DISTRICT'S CORE ANNUAL EVENTS 'BLUES, BREWS & BBQ AND FIESTA ALAMEDA' BOTH DREW UNPRECEDENTED CROWDS IN 2023, WITH ALMOST 9000 PEOPLE ATTENDING THE TWO FREE FESTIVALS TO ENJOY PERFORMANCES BY EMINENT LOCAL MUSICIANS,DANCE GROUPS AND ARTIST LED CRAFT ACTIVITIES. THE FIRST PHASE OF AN AMBITIOUS NEW MURAL PROJECT "LIFE OF FLIGHT" WAS COMPLETED BY MURALISTS 'TWIN WALLS MURAL COMPANY AND A NEW SERIES OF SMALLER MURALS WAS COMMISSIONED FROM A SELECTION OF LOCAL ARTISTS FOR THE HEALING GARDEN SPACE IN THE CENTER OF THE WEST ALAMEDA BUSINESS DISTRICT. THROUGHOUT APRIL AND MAY, WEAD ALSO PRESENTED "ART OF SAN QUENTIN," A MULTIMEDIA EXHIBIT SHARING THE WORK OF ARTISTS INCARCERATED ON DEATH ROW AT SAN QUENTIN. WEST END ARTS DISTRICT'S 2023 PROGRAM PROVIDED A WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR EAST BAY RESIDENTS TO ENGAGE WITH A VARIETY OF ART FORMS AS WELL AS PROVIDING PAID WORK OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVER 90 LOCAL ARTISTS.


WEAD SUPPORTED THE WORK OF 7 DIFFERENT ARTS ORGANIZATIONS/ ARTISTS THROUGH COLLABORATIONS, MARKETING, LOGISTICAL AND DIRECT FINANCIAL SUPPORT. THESE ARTISTS EXPANDED OUR MISSION BY BRINGING THEATER, DANCE PERFORMANCE, CONCERTS, VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITS, MUSIC CLASSES, AND CULTURAL EVENTS TO OUR COMMUNITY.
