(MAPA) SERVES AS A CONDUIT FOR OPEN DISCUSSION AND INFORMATION SHARING AMONG IT MEMBERS AND WITH FEDERAL OFFICIALS REGARDING HOW MEMBER PLANS CAN BETTER UNDERSTAND AND ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE WITH THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES.(CMS) GUIDELINES AND ENFORCEMENT POLICIES AND HOW FEDERAL PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES CAN BE CLARIFIED AND CONSISTENTLY UNDERSTOOD BY THE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE INDUSTRY IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE THE BENEFICIARY. MAPA WORKS COLLEGIALLY WITH CMS TO FAMILIARIZE CMS STAFF ON THE EFFECTS OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS AND POLICIES ON THE COMPLIANCE EFFORTS AND PRACTICES OF MA PLANS AND TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THE MA INDUSTRY AND CMS.SINCE ITS INCEPTION MAPA HAS CONFERENCED WITH THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES ON A QUARTERLY BASIS TO DISCUSS COMPLIANCE ISSUES AFFECTING THE PLANS AND TO OFFER CHANGES/SOLUTIONS TO THE RULES AND REGULATONS THAT WILL HELP THE PLANS BECOME MORE COMPLIANT AND TO BETTER SERVICE THE BENEFICIARY.
