TO PROVIDE A TRAINING FARM WITH AN ADJACENT CLINIC, ASSIST SERVICEMEMBERS AND VETERANS TO TRANSITION, TO FIND PURPOSE AND MEANING IN LIFE AND ENABLE THEM TO LEARN VALUABLE VOCATIONAL SKILLS TO MEET THE DEMAND FOR AGRICULTURAL OWNERSHIP, EMPLOYMENT, OR OTHER ADVANCED SCHOOLING. FACILITATE HEALING FOR THOSE IN NEED AND PLACE THOSE TRAINED ON WORKING FARMS.

SAVE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR BEE KEEPING TRAINING, INCLUDING COMMERCIAL BEE KEEPING. THIS TRAINING IS PROVIDED THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA VIA A COMBINATION OF ON-LINE COURSES AND HANDS ON TRAINING PROVIDED BY A MASTER BEEKEEPER AT THE SAVE APIARY IN MANHATTAN, KS. SEVERAL HUNDRED STUDENTS HAVE BEEN TRAINED. TRAINEES PARTICIPATED IN THE ANNUAL HARVEST AND BOTTLING OF HONEY, AND THE INTERACTION WITH OUR VENDORS. THE STORE AND SALE OF HONEY ENDED IN 2021, BUT SOME HIVES REMAIN FOR TRAINING PURPOSES.


SAVE PROVIDES OCCUPATIONAL AGRICULTURAL TRAINING AND ENGAGEMENT TO A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF VETERANS, SERVICEMEMBERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ON A TRAINING FARM NEAR FORT RILEY AND KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY. SAVE FARM. SAVE OWNS 308 ACRES 9 MILES NW OF MANHATTAN. SAVE ALSO HAS USE OF PARTS OF ANOTHER 200 ACRES NEAR LECOMPTON, KS IN ORDER TO DEMONSTRATE SPECIALTY CROPS, LIKE LAVENDER AND BERRIES. IN 2020, THE SAVE FARM PRODUCED CORN, SORGHUM, ALFALFA AND CLOVER. A LARGE GARDEN PLOT WAS PREPARED AND FENCED, SEVERAL HEAD OF CATTLE WERE GRAZED AND BRED. FARM EQUIPMENT IS IN PLACE AND DONORS HAVE PLEDGED MOST OF THE ANIMALS AND POULTRY NEEDED FOR OPERATIONS AND TRAINING.
