THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARY IN LIVINGSTON MONTANA.

THE ORGANIZATION RAISES FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL/COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY. THE LIBRARY'S PRIMARY FUNDING/OPERATING EXPENSES SOURCE IS FROM THE COUNTY AND CITY GOVERNMENTS. IN 2000-2005 THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY RAISED 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE COMMUNITY FOR A MUCH NEEDED ADDITION TO THE LIBRARY. THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY GENERALLY HOLD AN ANNUAL FUNDRAISER DINNER, WHICH COULD NOT TAKE PLACE IN 2020 OR 2021 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THE ORGANIZATION HOLDS SEVERAL USED BOOK SALES EACH YEAR. FUNDS RAISED ARE USED TO SUPPORT LIBRARY PROGRAMS, PURCHASE BOOKS, SUPPORT A BOOKMOBILE WHICH TRAVELS TO MORE REMOTE AREAS IN THIS LARGE AND RURAL COUNTY, AND FUND NEW TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE, UPGRADES, AND REPLACEMENTS. BOOKS DONATED ARE SOLD AT THE CIRCULATION DESK (A MINI-BOOKSALE)WHICH FUND PURCHASES OF BOOKS, MAGAZINES, AND MEDIA.


IN 2021 THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY RAISED APPROXIMATLEY 45,000 TO RENOVATE THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLES SECTION OF THE LIBRARY. THE MONEY WAS RAISED BY A SOLICITATION LETTER. THIS REPLACED THE THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING DINNER CANCELLED BEACUSE OF COVID-19. A COMMUNITY-WIDE FUNDRAISER CALLED "GIVE-A- HOOT" RAISED ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE RENOVATIONS.
