HEAD START IS A NATIONAL PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES SCHOOL READINESS BY ENHANCING THE SOCIAL AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL, HEALTH, NUTRITIONAL, SOCIAL AND OTHER SERVICES TO ENROLLED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED 359 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES RESIDING IN GRANITE, MINERAL, MISSOULA, POWELL, AND SANDERS COUNTIES IN WESTERN MONTANA.


THE CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP) PLAYS A VITAL ROLE IN ASSURING THE NUTRITIONAL QUALITY OF MEALS AND SNACKS SERVED TO ELIGIBLE CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THE CACFP PROVIDES CASH REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVING MEALS TO ENROLLED PARTICIPANTS THAT MEET FEDERAL NUTRITIONAL GUIDELINES, OUTLINED IN THE CACFP MEAL PATTERN. IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED 44,859 MEALS FOR LOW-INCOME CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH THE CACFP.
