ADVANCE HEALTH CARE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT; PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENT TO SUPPORT EMERGING BUSINESS ENTITIES TO FOSTER THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW AND INNOVATIVE HEALTH CARE SOLUTIONS; PROVIDE MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS FOR THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY IN CONCERT WITH COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS; PROVIDE A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL REFERENCE AND NETWORK CENTER FOR PROFESSIONALS PRACTICING IN HEALTH CARE INFORMATICS; AND DEVELOP RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUING EDUCATION NEEDS OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS.

THE NCHCI WILL STRIVE TO ADVANCE HEALTH CARE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE SOLICITATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF REGIONAL AND NATIONAL GRANTS AND BY TAKING A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW AND INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE HEALTH CARE SECTOR. THE NCHCI WILL PROMOTE JOINT NCHCI/UNIVERSITY EFFORTS TO DEVELOP A WIDE VARIETY OF RESOURCES, PRODUCTS, AND PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUING EDUCATION NEEDS OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS PRACTICING IN A WIDE VARIETY OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS. THE NCHCI WILL FOCUS ITS CONTINUING EDUCATION EFFORTS ON RURAL HEALTH CARE.
