OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, COMPREHENSIVE AND AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE TO ALL PEOPLE REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY, IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS RESPECT, COMPASSION AND DIGNITY.

SANTA BARBARA NEIGHBORHOOD CLINICS (SBNC) WAS FORMED IN 1998 THROUGH A MERGER OF THREE EXISTING MEDICAL CLINICS, WHICH HAD PROVIDED MEDICAL CARE TO THE UNDERSERVED POPULATION SINCE THE 1970'S. SINCE 2013, SBNC HAS OPERATED AS A FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER (FQHC) UNDER SECTION 330(E) OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE ACT. SBNC PROVIDES A WIDE-SPECTRUM OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES AT NINE LOCATIONS, INCLUDING: FOUR MEDICAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICS TWO DENTAL CLINICS ONE INTEGRATED MEDICAL, DENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL CLINIC ONE "BRIDGE" CLINIC DEDICATED TO TREATMENT OF SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS, ADDITIONALLY, HEALTH PROMOTION SERVICES AND PATIENT EDUCATION SERVICES ARE PROVIDED. THESE CLINICS ARE LOCATED IN NEIGHBORHOODS OF THE CITIES OF SANTA BARBARA AND GOLETA, AND THE UNINCORPORATED DISTRICT OF ISLA VISTA. ALL ARE IN THE COUNTY OF SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA. SBNC'S TARGET POPULATION INCLUDES LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED, HOMELESS AND MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED PEOPLE LIVING IN SOUTH SANTA BARBARA COUNTY. IN 2020, 63 % OF PATIENTS WERE LATINO AND 54% HAD INCOMES BELOW THE FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINE. THIS POPULATION NEEDS ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS, DELIVERED BY COMPASSIONATE, BI-LINGUAL, AND CULTURALLY AWARE STAFF. IN FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2021, SBNC PROVIDED 57,363 MEDICAL ENCOUNTERS, 24,097 DENTAL ENCOUNTERS, AND 4,797 BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ENCOUNTERS FOR A TOTAL OF 86,257 CLINICAL VISITS. A TOTAL OF 21,525 UNDUPLICATED PATIENTS WERE SERVED. THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HEALTHCARE TO ALL PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY. ABOUT 64% OF SBNC'S PATIENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR INSURANCE PROGRAMS, INCLUDING MEDI-CARE OR MEDI-CAL. SIX PERCENT (6%) OF PATIENTS HAVE COVERED CALIFORNIA OR ANOTHER SOURCE OF COMMERCIAL INSURANCE. THE REMAINING 30% ARE "SELF-PAY" PATIENTS, WITHOUT INSURANCE. FOR THESE PATIENTS, SBNC HAS A SLIDING FEE SCALE BASED ON PATIENT'S INCOME.
